So an upcoming Booster Gold issue has Ted! I was thrilled! I love Ted! Ted is probably the DC character I get most excited about seeing around these days! Then I saw
the preview!
...So right from the first page, we have a story where a) the woman equates sex with marriage, b) the woman is apparently a virgin prior to the magic Sex Of Commitment, c) the sex is enjoyable for the man, but for the woman is simply something one offers up in "gratitude" and in exchange for Commitment, and d) the man was perfectly happy with the sex but is utterly terrified of the Commitment, Oh God No Anything But That. Seriously? I thought this plot was beaten to death over the past fifty years and finally laid to rest in the 90s. And that's not even getting into the part where this is Ted Kord we're talking about. And that this is apparently the Great Danger that Booster has to time-travel to the past to rescue him from.
Oh, also, she "loves a man who takes command" and will take over for her when he marries her and becomes king. Because, you know, why on earth would a woman want the power of being queen? Honestly, it's so troublesome and we never know what to do with it. Better give it to a man instead.
Excuse me, I'll be over in a corner vomiting.
