Awesome holiday, I LOVE Rome, it's amazing! So very tired though, everything aches! The first day we were up for around 16 hours in all, with all the daylight hours being beautiful cloudless blue skies with bright sun. The second day we were up for a good 12 hours walking about the city, most of the morning in the Vatican State (including an audience with The Pope). This morning we got up at 4am (3am Italian time) and arrived home at around 1pm.
I should have booked tomorrow off work, heh. :)
Anyway, here are the photos...
The Colosseum
This view was the first thing we saw when we got out of the Metro stop. Impressive just doesn't come close. It's HUGE!!

The Emperor's Palace
Built on top of Nero's palace, and extended many times over the years by other emperors and Popes

St. Peter's Square
As viewed from the entrance of St. Peter's. To try and give an idea of scale, the obelisk in the centre (3000+ years old, from Egypt) is about 50ft tall...

2000 year old surprise buttsecks tentacle raep
This statue was on a fountain in a very nice square. I can't remember which one it was though, maybe someone will remind me? :)

The Trevi Fountain
This was just utterly lovely. Fountains, little streams, all beatifully worked into the sculpture. It would have made an awesome ornamental swimming pool/bath.

Sunrise on the wing
I took this on the plane shortly after takeoff from Ciampino airport (though I wasn't technically allowed to). I actually really like it...
