so we've somehow ended up with yet another dog.

Yesterday, there was a tiny little dog (sort of looks like a corgie) wandering around the house they're building across the street. The house is still mostly unfinished, and all of the doorways and windows are still empty. Well, the dog climbed up into the garage, which doesn't have a full floor yet. The garage is connected to the house, and the basement extends all the way, so there's a huge drop.

dog climbs into garage, dog can't get out, dog proceeds to bark and howl. no one was over there working on the house, so I went over, fished the dog out of the garage, put it back down in the driveway, and walked back home.

five minutes later, dog is back in the garage.

so I fished it out again and we put it in a spare crate in our garage.

He's obviously housebroken. He has a collar (but no tags). He's clean, used to being inside a house, and we have no clue where he came from. Probably dumped. We're going to put up "found" posters, but not with a picture..the person will have to describe the dog and his collar before they get him. We're going to take him to the vet and have him scanned to see if he's got a microchip.

If no one claims him, and he's not chipped, then I guess we'll be giving him a home.

I wish people took better care of their pets. There's no way a dog that small could've walked very far, and he showed no signs of thirst or hunger, and he wasn't dirty. But he doesn't belong to any of the neighbors. So I don't know where he might've come from, unless someone got tired of him and decided to drop him off at that house.
