Time has run away from me again. And even if I do get on the computer, I don't always remember to update on day to day stuff.
How is my baby six months old? His six month well check was last week, where he weighed in at 19 pounds. I was surprised, I thought he'd be heavier than that. But I was told he's doing great, we can start him on solids. So one of the errands Jason and I did with Maddy after picking her up after her half day on Friday was get some Stage 1 baby foods and baby cereal. Part of me was all teary and waily about feeding food, and with starting to cut back on pumping by not squeezing out every last drop. Because now if he's going to have solids, he won't need as much milk, and we still have an entire deep freezer full of containers. No, really. I even started refilling the empty slots when we defrosted those containers.
It's been fairly laid back overall, though i'm in for a hellaciously packed schedule at work because of my prior days off and the upcoming holidays I have to take off. The boys will be with me. Jason still doubts my sanity for that one, but we'll see. This weekend wasn't so bad, though Maddy wasn't feeling good on Friday night. I canceled her Saturday playdate/overnight and we didn't even go to the library. The kids vegged in front of the TV. Of course, that could be the reason why it wasn't such a bad weekend, lol. At least it's Sprout TV, Nick Jr., Disney Jr. and the like. I can tell myself they're learning something and brains aren't rotting out.
Tho Maddy didn't do ANY of the work sent home, and didn't even check her backpack until last night. Man, she's not supposed to pull stuff like that until she's a teenager! The Common Core math for a kindergartener is ridiculous, though. Why would someone think that these kids developmentally can do algebra?? Because asking a kindergartener to make "partners" of numbers that will make up a bigger number is exactly that. 6=4+2 was their example, and they're introducing algebraic concepts to kindergarteners, most of which don't know all their numbers. And they're asking the kids to create word problems when they don't know all their numbers. Or grammar. Or could read. ::facepalm:: That entire curriculum is a disaster. I heard about it before from patients, but I guess I was hoping it would be gone by now. :(
