Work has been busy; apparently for March I was at 111% of expected capacity. Go figure. I've also had a lot of new intakes lately, as well as a second opinions no one really saw fit to inform me about until after I did it. Which I find just rude, really. And there will be another second opinion next week, though this time I got a short summary ( Read more... )

There's the behavior slip, I guess they think that's enough?

She definitely knows the academic side of things, and apparently that's not in question. But because she's not also ridiculously mature for her age, they will keep her back. and now the parochial schools apparently have no early placement system. This entire situation is ridiculous. I wouldn't have pushed so hard in the first place if I didn't think she would do well in kindergarten, because I really think she'll fine there. She needs to be with kids that behave well. She's too much of a follower in some situations. Hell, for church singalongs, she does better in the center than at the end, because then she'll get shy or distracted.

She says some of the not listening in school is because she doesn't like the main teacher in her room, but I think it's a kind of self fulfilling situation. She doesn't follow directions because she'd rather play, and the teacher repeats herself a lot to get things done. Maddy doesn't like that and gets all pouty. Teacher repeats again, and Maddy starts shutting down and not liking the teacher. Teacher repeats more, thinks she isn't mature. ::throws up hands::

Oh, it just makes me want to throw up my hands and scream. It shouldn't matter about her social behavior. She should be able to take the test. If she passes with the required score, then she's through. If she doesn't, they she stays. That simple. Rawr!

exactly my thought! But in looking around online, apparently the whole leaving kids back because of ocial reasons is called "redshirting" and is cmmon nationally. it's such a waste of time and talent, imho.
