Craig and I went and saw "The Lady in the Van" today. It's the (mostly) true story about the woman who lived in Alan Bennett's driveway for fifteen years. Maggie Smith was absolutely wonderful in it, and we both really enjoyed it, though Craig has been an Alan Bennett fan for years. Alicia was out this morning for the interview and speech portions of her Academic Decathlon team, so I decided to go to a matinee of The Revenant with a friend. No spoilers, but I'll agree with the general consensus that it's incredibly intense, beautifully shot, and most likely worthy of the Oscars it will get. In spite of the bad reviews, we all went to see The Last Witch Hunter tonight. Spoiler-free impression: it wasn't as awful as we expected. It's not great either, though.

I just got home from seeing Crimson Peak with Alicia and her BFF. Quick non-spoilery reaction: not exactly what I expected plotwise (though unsurprising if I think about it), but pretty good in spite of it; the real star is the visual imagery.
