Well, pepperlandgirl4 and I have hit our first real publishing reality.

Borders hates our cover for Chasing Silver.

Well, maybe hate is a strong word. But they had serious problems with it, in that they didn't feel it conveyed enough about the book. Because the publisher wants the sales as good as possible, and because they want to keep Borders happy, they're doing a new cover.

The biggest downside to this is it pushes our release date from September to December. We're not pleased with this, though at least it gives us a December release (we didn't have anything coming out in December yet). We also loved our first cover, though we trust Tim Lantz (the artist) to come up with something else equally fabulous.

On the plus side, it shows tremendous faith in our book that Juno would go to these lengths. Some other authors haven't been quite so lucky. We also learned that they'd planned a 6-month lag for the sequel, so the way it currently stands, the first book, Chasing Silver, will be out in December, and the second, Touching Silver, will be out in June. Just in time to pick up for your summer reading!
