My summer is about to get hectic.
Today is the last day of school. For both Alicia and Alex, so starting tomorrow, they're home full time. That's actually not that long, believe it or not. Because we have a lot of traveling we're doing this summer.
On June 28, we leave to drive across the country to Michigan. Craig's always wanted to drive across the country and since it's cheaper than flying for 4 of us at the height of summer, we decided to do it this way. He's not staying, though. Once we get out there, he's flying back to work the next 10 days. Then on July 12th, he'll fly out again, and we'll drive back to CA. In the middle of that, I'm leaving my kids with my mom so that I can go to Toronto from July 5-9 in order to work at Polaris 21.
Then, on July 17th, we leave for the UK. The kids and Craig are staying until August 24, because that's the day the air fares drop. I mean, drastically drop. It's $400 less a ticket for each of them by coming back on that day. I can't stay that long, however. That week will be the registration/class assignments at the kids school, so I have to be there for that. Plus,
pepperlandgirl4 is coming here on the 24th for a Wilco concert.
Life in the UK isn't going to be simple, though. The grandparents have all sorts of plans for Alicia and Alex, as well as what Craig and I have planned. We're going up to Great Yarmouth for a caravan holiday one week, and then the following weekend, we drive out to Wales to visit friends in Swansea. Not to mention me trying to hook up with what English friends I can. :)
In that time period, I've also got my birthday, my mom's birthday, and a ton of editing and writing to do. One thing I shouldn't have to worry about - thank god - is a submission we made to Liquid Silver Books at the end of April. They offered us a contract for that at the end of May, and we've already gotten our first round of edits back from our editor. To top it off, her edits are so, so minor that I'll have them all done and given it another read-through before the weekend.
It's a gay contemporary romance that
pepperlandgirl4 and I first got the idea for way back when we were playing in the Wickedverse. It only took us 15 months to actually get around to writing it, lol.
It's called "Brindisi Bedfellows," and this is the blurb:
Getting dumped is never fun.
Getting dumped by your boyfriend on the eve of your first vacation in six years because he decides to reconcile with his ex-wife is agony.
Heartbroken Christian Davis is drowning his sorrows when his ex-lover’s best friend swoops in and throws his world into chaos. Trip Watson is gorgeous and gregarious and everything Chris doesn’t need right now. But none of that seems to matter when Trip finds out what Andrew did to him. Appalled by Andrew’s callous treatment, Trip announces the best way to get over the break-up - and to rub Andrew’s face in it - is to go to Italy as planned and spend the next three weeks having the time of his life. With Trip.
Mutual lust drives them together. Andrew could very well push them apart. Especially if the truth about Trip’s relationship with him ever comes to light.
