Colin and Bradley: A Bromance

Sep 12, 2009 11:19

Ok so I guess most of you have read this very interesting Merlin interview here. (thanks to feilongfan for the heads up).

It's interesting that the Daily Mail chose to focus almost solely on the relationship between Colin and Bradley.
I'm no fan of the term 'bromance', but this made me squee a bit:

"They have a love-hate relationship in TV drama Merlin but ( Read more... )

I also noticed how they clarified the word "bromance". I think there's a need for that, at least for general public.

Yeah I think I didn't realise that people outside of the US may not know the term.

I kind of feel like this makes me really naive or something, but until I read this article, I'd never heard the term bromance. XD;;; Quite interesting though. XDDDD ...And I'm going to have fun looking for Colin's brother now. ^_~

"Bromance" is quite a common word over here in North America, but probably not anywhere else. So you're not naive at all, don't worry. It's probably good that they clarified what it means though, for those who don't already know. Because it can have certain connotations, even if that's not the intent ;)

Yeah I've been so used to hearing it I never realised the term may not be used everywhere. The American media has been going overboard with it though...it's the new 'in' thing to call a story/movie/show 'bromance'

And I hope we find out which episode Colin's brother was in so we can play 'spot Neil Morgan'

Well, it's probably more likely that I just don't pay attention to a lot of pop-culture type things? XD;; I'm sure now that I've heard it, I'll start hearing it all over the place though. ^_~

Me too! ^_~

That was a pretty adorable article. I loved it! I'm fine with them making things clear...but my most desperate hope is that they'll just learn to roll with the punches and not take things too seriously. Like how the Supernatural gang is. Please don't go getting all defensive and get your backs up against walls, and move away from the slashy elements out of fear or whatever. As long as they can keep a sense of humour about the whole thing I'll be happy. Seems to me like Bradley's doing well with this thing. I just hope that remains. His little comment at the BFI screening seemed to imply light-hearedness anyway.

Unless he belatedly realized the backlast of his comments and this interview was his way of trying to fix that a little, LOL! ;)

I forgot that the BFI screening was after this viewing, so I hope Bradley is taking it lightly and more like a joke. Like you, I'd like to see them not get their backs up about it.

:D heh...it's so much better than lady boner, that the US media now seem to be latched onto.

He's an actor you can't really expect him to be like "Yeah we're in a big time bromance. I love him. We're getting married" Yeah. That just doesn't happen.

As a J2 believer I'm like dude, I don't expect them to come out ever. They have careers and a personal life.

If that makes any sense?

Oh it makes perfect sense. (Love J2) But I just hope they'll learn to joke about it, not take things too seriously. Field any questions like this with a wink and a smile.
Then again they may have been put on the spot a bit by the Daily Mirror.
But I guess the BFI screening was after this interview and Bradley seemed to already be joking about the C/B 'rumours'.
