So... at long last. An Oz vid. Beecher and Keller.
I have never had a song so persistently demand to be made into a vid as this one. Something about the wail of the guitar insisted on being vidded. It also afforded me the opportunity to use an effect that I normally wouldn't touch with a 39 and a half foot pole. You see, I am very critical of effects. I think they can be far too distracting when improperly used, and that it's a fine line between enhancing the video, and detracting from it. I'd like to think that I can walk that line with this vid. (Hopefully.)At any rate, fortune favours the bold, and just as with Weapon, if it doesn't work I at least want it to be a memorable failure.
A memorable success? So much the better.
So, my comments. This video contains spoilers for the entirety of the Beecher/Keller relationship. You've been warned. I started this video without knowing how the series wrapped up, so it was somewhat of a shock to see the final episode, and I was left to re-evaluate what I had already story-boarded. But ultimately, whatever direction I saw the series going in, the ultimate conclusion worked far better for my purposes than anything I had envisioned, even if I personally struggled with how it all ended between these two. (And boy, did I.) It's a relationship Keller once described by saying it "began in brutality and ended in brutality. Love was the smallest part." Which would be true were it not for the fact that in Oz, and for a man like Keller, love and brutality are not seperate entities.
Chemicals Between Us
by Bush
I want you to remember
A love so full it could send us all ways
And I want you to surrender
All my feeling rose today
And I want you to remain
The Power of children can amaze
I'll try not to complain
I know that's a pisser, baby.
The chemicals between us
the walls that lie between us
lying in this bed
The chemicals displace
there is no lonier state
than lying in this bed
I want you to remember
everything you said
every driven word
like a hammer
hell to my head
The chemicals between us
the walls the lie between us
the walls that lie between us
lying in this bed
The chemicals displace
there is no lonier fate
then lying in this bed
We are the hollow men
We are the naked ones
we never meant you harm
Never meant you wrong
And I'd like to thank
all my lovers
lovers
lovers
lovers
Chemicals between us
the army of achievers
lying in this bed
The chemicals displace
there is no lonier state
lying in this bed

ETA: Just because many of you haven't seen the show I thought I'd add that the vid is chronological. So if you were wondering why it goes back and forth between loving and violent, that's pretty much the nature of their relationship. They are quite the pair.
