Long overdue
First of all, happy 4th of July to anybody who might be reading this before heading out to watch the fireworks shows wherever you are.
Second, when I say, "Long overdue," I'm not just referring to the fact that I haven't posted to my LJ in ages. It means I finally took my car into the Subaru dealership to replace the center diff (was causing the car to clunk in tight turns), replace the ignition coil and a spark plug and a spark plug wire (was causing a severe engine misfire), and get an oil change. Total damage: $2230. I think it's going to be Cup O' Noodle time for a while.
It also means that I went to the dentist and had my teeth examined for the first time in years. While my teeth had managed to avoid being reduced to little white nubs, it turns out that a filling had gone missing and, therefore, there was a hole in one of my teeth. Hopefully, taking care of that issue will mean the chronic ear infection I was suffering from will finally go away for good.
Finally, I found the time to make it out to a computer show to check out parts and prices. I now have my sights set on a 19" widescreen LCD monitor made by Acer being sold for $160. Possibly two. I also am considering replacing my ancient-ass ATI Radeon AIW video card with something of a more recent vintage. Like something that is compatible with Windows Media Center Edition 2005. We'll see, though. That $2230 put a pretty big dent in my discretionary budget.
