Busy busy busy
Wow. Things have just been crazy at work. And to top it all off, last week ended with the server that hosts our sites going down due to hardware failure. Not only did that take our web sites down, but the e-mail was ding-dong dead as well. It's a good thing our hosting provider performs regular backups, or things could've turned out much worse than they did. As it is, we were down for roughly 24 hours or so.
So Friday was a load of fun. :P
Let's see. So what else has been going on lately?
edkwon paid me a visit at my new place in Jersey. I don't know how good a time you had while you were here, Ed, but it felt good to just hang out and chill for a weekend. Nice, and relaxing, too.
Also, thanks to edkwon, I picked up both of Alton Brown's cookbooks: I'm Just Here for the Food and I'm Just Here for More Food this past week. Yeah, Ed. It turns out that I was wrong. Borders is charging merely FULL RETAIL PRICE, and the prices on Food Network's web site are discounted. So between the 20% coupon you gave me and the 30% coupon I got while buying the first book, I was able to get the pair for cheaper than from Food Network.
Now I just have to scrape together the ~$300 to get the first 9 seasons of Good Eats on DVD. But that'll have to wait until after I find out how much it's going to cost to get my car back into tip-top shape. That's what I get for putting off necessary maintenance, I guess. Instead of paying for things a little bit at a time, I'm going to be getting it all in one big, whopping repair bill.
Also, I've gone on a mini-buying spree of old PS2 games from EB and GameStop. In fact, I've got ESPN NFL 2K5 running at this very moment. Why? Because the incidental music that plays in the background of the menus is the same as the stuff they use for their football coverage on TV. It's not as good as the stuff NFL Films uses (which also has the John Facenda narration going for it), but it's not bad. It's listenable. Maybe I should rip them to .mp3?
Last but not least, my bro and sis-in-law had their kid last week on Monday. So I'm officially an uncle now. =:O
I have only hearsay to go on, but it appears that he is very cute. I'll try to suss out the truth of the matter after examining the photographic evidence later this week.
