Party and Hangi

Had a good time catching up with my friend Q who was in town for the last couple of days. Met up in town for a few drinks on Thursday and headed along to a party at Tom's place. As I had not been drinking that much recently, the three wines I had in town made me slightly chemically inconvenienced by the time my bottle of cider arrived at the party. I had not had much food either, so it was great to find that there was still plenty of hangi food to go around (hangi = traditional Maori feast cooked in an underground oven). I had not had hangi food for years.

The party was very well set up with a tarpaulin between the house and the garage helping to keep out the rain and the cold. There was also a little fire going outside and a toasty open fire inside. I haven't been able to stand with my back to an open fire for ages, the living warmth is so addictive. I think I could be destined to come back as a cat in another lifetime.

As being at a party reminded me of weekends I forgot that late busses don't exist on thursday nights, so I ended up crashing on an old sofa bed on the floor of a friend's flat.
