Job Hunt & Exam Run-up

Just got off the phone with my old boss to see if there would be any jobs going there once my exams are over. Turns out that their department (or the infrastructure or something) is being sold to AXA, so there won't even be an MLC after August. That would suggest that maybe I could get a job until then, but all of the stuff I dealt with is actually being migrated at the end of May, which is about when my exams finish. So I guess I've got a proper job hunt on my hands, after all. At least I got that out of the way fairly early.

Just been looking on S1 Jobs and there seem to be quite a few full-time jobs going in Greenock. More than I'd have expected from what people keep saying. I'm hopeful for now.

I had my CS-1P lab exam on Tuesday. I got the program in working order veeery late beforehand (more due to lack of skill than lack of effort) and as a result, I didn't have time to memorise the entire thing. I got about 80 out of 109 lines of code in my head. Those final lines were pretty much just for the output, though, and I got most of the preliminary calculations down perfectly. So, I'm thinking 9 to 12 out of 20. It's only worth 10% of my grade anyway. Now I need to get a little under half marks in the final exam to get a C. Here's hoping!

Maths is gonna be the real bugger. CS-1Q should be a bit of a challenge, but fun, and I may not even bother revising for SciFun. But Maths is friggin' hard. Friggin'!

Rather than studying last week, I spent the majority of my alone time playing video games. I downloaded the trial of Mega Man 9 on PS3, started to see the appeal, and bought the full version. I can see why folks get hooked on these games. Took me a long time to notice that certain bosses were particularly vulnerable to certain weapons, meaning there was somewhat of an order in which they should be tackled. I was on my last one, Magma Man, when I realised this as I accidentally put out his flames in a last-ditch effort to hurt him enough to MAKE HIM DIE. At 4am this morning I got to the final battle with Wily. I'd run out of E-Tanks. I gave it three tries (eventually managing to beat all the boss re-battles without dying), but I really don't think I can manage Wily's second form without being able to restore my health mid-battle.

You know there's something wrong with you when you're in the run-up to your exams while looking for a job and your biggest journal section is about Mega Man.
