made to glorify

Think about it.

I mean, why is a gift given to you? So you can use it.

"Every good and perfect give is from above, coming down from the Father of lights..."

So all those things are done to the glory of God, to point back to Him. Your car, your house, your paycheck, your spouse and children, ALL those things are for you BUT- they are for you so you can glorify God through them, and in the doing so God will be glorified in you.

For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.

I was thinking about that the other day, and I kinda see the wisdom of it. God has chosen the foolish things of this world to confound the wise. "For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was well-pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe." See, the ANGELS screwed it up, right? They can SEE Him, they're stronger than us, they have powers we would call magical (or, at the least, inhuman). And the best of them still fell. So God made us, and gave us great grace BY making us weaker, frailer, so that we could see that the power that runs through our lives when lived in relationship with the Holy Spirit is not and never was ours! We can see God and His sovereignty so much clearer because our own brightness doesn't get in the way; we cannot boast in ourselves!

So check this, if Darwin WAS right, how did a hairless ape EVER make it to the top of the foodchain?

"Oh, we have logical thinking!"

That's great. Your logical thinking against a pack of hungry lionesses on the hunt, in a day and age where your best tool was a spear you made out of piece of driftwood, flax and a sharp rock, is only going to conclude that your new name is dinner.

God put the fear of man IN every animal; that's a BIG advantage, and none of our doing.

Plus we're made in His image. I once heard a story where God was making His final touch on creation and all the angels were very curious. He'd made the world, the sun, the stars, the ocean and continents, all beasts and birds and fish, plants, and that's just on EARTH, and now here He is and He says what He's making now is the crown of all of it.

What is it? It looks kind of weird, say some. Didn't He make something like that already, but a little less naked? And then, suddenly, He breathed into the form of Adam.

"WOW. Do you -see- that?"

"It looks just like Him!"

It wasn't physical similarity; God gave us of His own Spirit. Our spirits were created with the sole purpose of union and relationship with Him.

I find it interesting that when He came to earth, all the religious spirited kept watching Jesus to try to catch Him in a trap; meaning they were waiting to show Him an opportunity where they were better than He, holier, more God-like than God Himself. That's exactly what Satan tried to do. Exalt himself above God.

I do -love- how everything in the Bible points you back to God.
