So, convention was awesome. Spent time chilling (occasionally literally) with several people I enjoy hanging out with and/or enjoy the chance to get to know better, met a few random people along the way, read my first furry book (Breaking the Ice) and generally sat around and did nothing for four days. *g*
It's amazing how much it feels like dropping off of the face of the planet when you go four days with no internet or phone access. I had occasional phone contact when we headed into town, but for the most part I couldn't catch up with any of the things I normally do. It was nice. The landscape was pretty, the town was... very Oklahoman... the people were fun and scritchable. I learned that my shoes, while perfect for cold weather, are purely decorative and *not* perfect for anything that resembles hiking. Had a new species suggestion that tickled me - bookworm - and filed it away as something for future contemplation. Got to try a hazelnut shake at Sonic, which was positively foodgasmic. Went star-gazing for the first time in yaers, got back in touch with my man Orion, and went down nerdy paths both great and small while contemplating the infinite. It's amazing the things that occasionally remind me of my spiritual side and the goals it assists or detracts from. Every time I start to think of myself as completely non-religious and non-Christian, I have a moment of connection with the universe that reminds me why I believe there's a God. Go, universe. (-:
Had a great conversation about mathematical theorems and concepts, worked through a nice case or two of Shiner with friends, shared my "maybe-not-entirely-functionally-straight" story for the almost-first time, got to listen to an awesome riffing of the horrible movie Hybrid, got some great memories to take with me *and* got to be Queen for five minutes. *dances happily* Queen Lenny, Queen Stephanie and Queen Glass were pretty spectacular, though the follow-up "locked out of the cabin" was an unfortunate end to an otherwise kickass evening.
Overall, some great memories to take with me and a couple of new contacts to follow up on. Lots of cuddling and scritching and general touching left me in a great place mentally, though I had a few ups and downs with boredom and getting peopled out. I did snag some shinies to hang around my neck, though, so yay for being driven by boredom! :-D
Also: we found the extra mattresses... in A-frame six.
