For the last few weeks, work has been looking for people to go down to New Orleans. I've really wanted to go, but I thought it was volunteer work, and while I would *love* to head down and help out, I just can't lose out on a week's worth of pay for it and still be able to pay bills.
Then, yesterday, they said it was paid. Asked if I wanted to go, and I was like, "Totally!"
THEN... I found out that not only is it paid, food/expenses are paid, travel is paid, lodging is paid, I'll be making $3 more/hour than I do here, *and* getting overtime because they need a crapload of help hours-wise.
I leave Halloween (kinda sad to not get to do the dress-up thing, but I didn't have anything put together since I found out we wouldn't get to dress up at work and I knew I'd be working) and will be there for six days. I'm really excited about the opportunity, and can't believe how perfect the timing is for me.
Aside from that, this morning I finally finished A Fine Passion, the latest installment of Stephanie Laurens' Bastion Club series. I do love Stephanie Laurens - at least, her good books. She's one of the authors I think pushes out crap novellas to support her writing habit. This last one was a bit challenging right now, because the main female character had many characteristics I'd like to imagine I have, and still managed to fall passionately in love. But it was a wonderful read, and touching, as Ms. Laurens' solid books generally are. So I'm in a happy place now. (-:
Goals for tonight: Warlock to 30. Felhunter time, baby. :-D
