I've been playing a phone game called Terra Battle that was initially just another dibbling in my near-frantic need for constant novelty but as I continued playing I actually found I like it a lot. It has a simple but engaging combat system that doesn't rely on fake difficulty to be challenging, that's really all I ask and it delivers in that arena. The character design is kinda hit and miss for me, it's a little generic fantasy shit that while not actually bad per se, doesn't stand out either. It's like, oh hey I saw you guys in every other fantasy game I've already played. If I paid forty bucks for this game I'd be like, "this could definitely be better." But free to play? Worth the time. If/when they release a console version, the only thing I'd say is that, I do not give a shit about anything going on in this game, I just want to kill things and get treasure. I have no idea who any of these people laying down their lives for my entertainment are, I have no idea what the story is about, and I really don't care. I think if making this a full-fledged game, that is the only thing it's really missing.

Final Fantasy X HD remake, finally finished that. I played the PS2 version a couple times but I colored within the lines, I never really took the time to do sidequests and get the Celestial weapons and such. I was very surprised at how absurdly easy Yunalesca was this time, like I didn't even break a metaphorical sweat, whereas my recollection of how it'd gone last time I played was that I was struggling just to keep everyone alive, much less deal damage. It's possible the non-standard sphere grid (I forget the name) makes it easier, everyone and their mum had Haste or Hastega by then. For whatever reason while I was playing, there was a lot of lag trying to load voices, and background music would often skip when that happened. It was pretty irritating, but I just dealt with it. There's a trick to dodging 200 lightning bolts in the Thunder Plains, where a certain spot always triggers a lightning strike; I pretty much ran through the rest of the game Doublecasting Ultima/Flare/Demi with Lulu and going muahaha. Everyone goes on and on about how Yuna has higher magic, but Nirvana doesn't have Magic Booster. I didn't feel like gathering 30 Turbo Ethers and 60 Dark Matters.

Also I just learned that they published more sequel material after FFX-2 and wow does it sound horrifying. I haven't experienced them myself but the summaries just sound incredibly bizarre and not at all in keeping with the games. Somebody's head getting blown off and landing next to someone all disemboweled and bloody doesn't sound like something I expected from the series, even if it's in prose and not visual. And then Sin comes back? Bullshit. Their reasoning for that was stupid too, "Spira is about Sin so by that logic Sin should never fucking go away even though that's exactly what the original game was about." The story is OVER, there is nothing good left to milk from it.

I bought Mortal Kombat 9 for some reason, probably nostalgia (plus the aforementioned crippling need for novelty). UMK3 was a new thing when I was young and I enjoyed watching people play. Anyway, I know MK9's been out for a while, it's not exactly new, but whatever. Some of the character designs over the years have been kinda 'ehh' but I feel like most of the designs in this one did away with that 'who the hell are these people' feeling. The in-game models though, the women have man faces and the men are mostly hideous. It was a mistake to put Kratos in the same game as Quan Chi.

Umm Super Smash Bros 3DS? I guess that's a relatively recent acquisition too. Smash Bros on a handheld worked out better than I expected, though it's still not as precise as a home console, and sometimes the character won't do what I intended to do. Hand cramps are an issue. The game looks better than screenshots led me to expect, and the sound is incredible, considering there's a lot of noise and music involved with Smash. If I had a Wii U, I might have waited for a price drop or not gotten it at all, but it's still worth buying. It costs less. I'm pretty annoyed that Lucina is a motherfucking Marth clone, mostly because Marth is the biggest snoozefest of a Fire Emblem character. Seriously even like Aimee from FE9/10 has more personality than him, and she's an NPC shopkeeper.
