i'm a little confused about how you think i can do a gritty reboot, but confused in a v v flattered way bb hahaha thaaaaanks you're nice
so this is somthing john's always been able to do, so he's always been very careful about gloves and operating on the dying and stuff like that i guess
also i never saw pushing daisies i really should, but so this is all based on what i know about it, which is what you've told me, some plot summaries, and that's about it
and
sherlock finds out early on -- john doesn't touch bodies, and he always always has a backup pair of gloves and/or long sleeves
so they do exactly as you say, bringing the dead back ot life -- and john odesn't like it, because theyr'e still in pain when he brings them back, they're still hurt, but he does it anyways to solve murders, and it sorta helps but they still gotta find evidence so there's still that
and there's always the requisite "OMAG I'M DEAD AM I DEAD WATS;AJFD;LS"
"no calm down just answer the questions"
";KJFD;ASJDLFJ TELL MY MOTHER I LOVE HER"
"shut up and answer the question: who kileld you"
etc etc. and it's kind of emotionally trying, on both sherlock AND john, but they do it anyways because it really does save lives, and mycroft knows (not that it super matters i guess)
and they get into a rhythm aaaand
i mean i could go with the standard "and then sherlock dies and john brings him back", which i guess i'm okay with since i dont thin kanyone's actually written it yet, jsut prompted it, and this happens before they have a sexual relationship
(and when they do have a sexual one, there's a convo like "think of me like rogue, only more instantly" "who's rogue" "ugh nvm")
and i don't really want it to be dark but:
HERE'S WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF IT WAS DARK
mycroft would die and john would bring him back, and someone else would die and mycrogft would have john bring him back, and john would basically be used as an immortality box, until john's like "okay i'm really not okay with this" and maybe it'd be a real immortality box -- whenever someone should die that john revived, someone else dies instead (in some hilarious unplausible way), so john is the only one who can kill them
idk then what
so here's how it's not as dark: the same thing but instead of being an immortality box, john touches someone and they run off and do a crime spree or work for moriarty or it's acutally moriarty or something, and they can't die unless john touches them
maybe moriarty figures it out and baits john into touching him when he's dead and runs off and is now functionally evil AND immortal idk that'd be kinda funny and not too dark i geuss
and of course interleaving this is that john can still be hurt, that john is often the one inexplicably hurt (lol through implausible means? i think that's hw the real canon works) when sherlock isn't because john's usually close proximity to him (tho he can't die from it)
and they gradually fall in love and sexual tension and they can't touch and they both understand that but they can through gloves if they're careful to avoid skin on skin (or maybe just hands on skin, if it was just hands that'd make for some kinky stuff, but idk how the real canon works i assume skin/skin so the guy can't kiss the girl he loves)
so stuff like gloved handjobs and maybe some light bondage to avoid touching or just a lot of self-control with dire consequences for failure, etc, etc.
and maybe john dies and sherlock dies too
and then john is revived (cpr, those chest paddle things (ugh too lazy to remember the name), whatever) and sherlock comes back too, so they realize that his life is bound to that of anyone left alive
which is mycroft and sherlock and moriarty -- and mycroft in this nonsuperdark version undrestands why this can't be abused and is scrupulous about not abusing it or letting others know (because what's the point in doing so; no one's as important to him as himself and his brother, so whatever, screw them the slippery slope isn't worth it)
so john has this added
"if i kill myself then moriarty dies" because moriarty's doing bad things
and they hunt him and stuff i guess and question people as usual
and maybe he brings back lestrade too, idk idk that might be too many people and be kinda lame, so maybe not
i guess not
soooooo
i dunno what else
or maybe instead of him saving moriarty, moriarty is like him and moriarty's abusing his power to have an army of immortal minions that can't touch him and that he can instakill
i like that way better, that's totally wahat he does
and mycroft's like "you know maybe you should...."
and jon's like "that's fucking horrific what hte fuck is wrong with you i am not making immortal soldiers powered on the lives of other people"
and mycroft and sherlock are like "it was just an idea :<"
and then
it turns out that john can permakill moriarty's minions by touching them
which means moriarty can do the same to sherlock
and suddenly it becomes a game of "don't let him find this out" and maybe some angsty "i don't want to let you die" and stuff because then moriarty's the only threat to sherlock and mycroft (hell, maybe not mycroft, i don't know if that's really adding to the plot,k so i guess he iddn't do it to mycroft, only sherlock)
so john has sherlock and they are detectives
and moriarty has seb and some other minions and they're immortal and do bad things and crime lord and stuff
and then moriarty finds out (one of his minions escapes, because sherlock and the minions fight by grappling and john touching them to kill them) that a) john is like him and b) sherlock is john's raised dead (lol sherlock is a zombie i guess but living and breathing but sorta undead)
and there's a battle and it's climactic and the good guys win and...
maybe someone kills moriarty, maybe they stalemate (i don't want that, nvm, because john doesn't like stalemates with badguys)
so i guess it'd need a happy ending of the good guys win moriarty dies and all his guys die
which still leaves john and sherlock as "can't touch this"
and maybe mycroft does something terrible and finds out a way to transfer his powers
so he can transfer john's powers to himself, as long as john is a willing participant
and there is angst and hurting and uncertainty (becaues mycroft would definitely use this power in an abusive way) and ultimately
so this is somthing john's always been able to do, so he's always been very careful about gloves and operating on the dying and stuff like that i guess
