Mr. Curry

There are a LOT of things I'm passionate about, and growing up loving those things, I kept coming across a british actor called Tim Curry. Mr. Curry has received a Tony Lifetime Achievement Award at the Tonys. It was his first appearance since the severe stroke he suffered in 2012. Seeing him after so many years, it broke my heart, and since my ( Read more... )

Tim Curry played Pennywise!! I had no idea - that man (and Stephen king) is completely responsible for my debilitating fear of clowns. That gif was enough to bring me out in a cold sweat. Seriously though I had no idea that Tim Curry played him...it. He is such a fantastic actor, obviously in RHPS, but in so many other things as well. His baddie in Annie, a favourite film of mine in my youth, was wonderful and thankfully didn't give me nightmares. He had such a wonderfully distinctive voice and always appeared to be utterly charming.

I had no idea he'd had a stroke. Obviously he's still on the hard road to recovery and I really do wish him all the best. As you say, that lifetime achievement award is very much deserved.

Yes, he was -still is- charming. I'm reading all the comments and I realized how much he did -I never saw Annie (sorry, kind of allergic to musicals -well, those who doesn't come with a dose of ceepy, like RHPS and Repo! The genetic opera) and I had totally forgotten he played the bad guy in Legend. Of course, I never saw him in plays. Still, He's very special to me, and I'm glad he was well enough to receive his award.

I love Tim Curry.  He also played Gomez Addams in one of the Addams Family movies after Raul Julua died.  I'm sad that he is having such a hard time health-wise.     m.     :)

Right? It is sad. Since it's his first public appearance since his stroke, it really hit me hard to see him like this.

I saw Tim Curry as King Arthur in Spamalot, in London's West End and he was (unsurprisingly) fabulous.

My favourite role of his bar none is when he played Nigel St.Nigel in Psych. I never get sick of rewatching that episode and he makes me laugh every single time.

What a lovely tribute.

I wish I could have seen him in a play. And OMG I had totally forgotten about that psych episode, thanks for reminding me!

I first saw Tim Curry as the lead bad guy in Legend (a truly terrible and wonderful 1980s movie!) and when I saw It I didn't even realize it was the same guy until later, probably after I watched Rocky Horror. He really is amazing.

Same for me. It took me time to connect the dots between IT and Clue, and THEN I saw Rocky horror. So fun to discover someone in reverse.

I had totally forgotten about legend. I saw it once when I was a little kid. Now I have to watch it again, thanks for reminding me!

I have Legend on DVD because I love it so much! The sound track is actually my favorite part.

I had no idea he'd had a stroke, it's so sad but it's also wonderful that he's been recognized with a lifetime achievement award. I first fell in love with Tim Curry when I was a teen and he played Will Shakespeare in a TV series, he was gorgeous then! I also saw him at the theatre in the role of The Pirate King in Pirates of Penzance, he made a very swashbuckling pirate! And of course his role in The Rocky Horror Show was amazing and I think he made the film move from cult to cult classic.

So I'm sending you a big hug as I know how sad you must be feeling right now. My sister had a stroke a few years ago and although she was extremely poorly she's made a good recovery. I hope your dad is doing okay.

Here's a link to a pic of Tim as Shakespeare for you...

OMG that picture is HOT. Very hard to reconciliate it with the terrifying clown from IT. I read all the comments and I realize how much he's done that I didn't even know about, and now I want to rewatch it all.
It also felt good remembering my father through my little hommage. It's because of him that I'm a fangirl now and I have wonderful memories of me, sitting on his lap, watching those old star trek episodes.

(my father has a fanboy soul. When he woke up from his first stroke, after days of confusion, one of the first thing he said was: It's been a long time since I've watch The Wrath of Khan. LOL. It's his favorite star trek movie)

Thank you for the kinds words, my dear.
