Cabbage is almost universally available in all countries and cultures. It's rich in nutrition and fiber and a great source of vitamins A, B, C and E. Research indicates that indoles contained within can lower the risk of various forms of cancer. Cabbage was a popular food with the ancient Greeks and Romans. Throughout history, many Asian diets have been rich and abundant in cabbage as well. One cup of cabbage contains only about 15 calories.
