So I saw the documentary Bully. And boy, did it bring me back to that twisted time of life called childhood. I remember being bullied: by students, in summer camp and social clubs. This particular song broke loose from whatever pocket of subconscious memory where I'd hidden it. During summer swim lessons, kids would gather around me and sing:
"I see your hiney
All black and shiny
You'd better hide it
Before I bite"
It was silly and Othering at the same time.
I remember being punched in the face by an older student in junior high and crying on the bus ride home.
I also remember the Weird Kid that everyone ostracized. He was scrawny and pale with an oddly shaped head, and everyone decided not to like him and treated him poorly, Including me. As awkward as I was, I was never that guy. I wonder what happened to him? I am so sorry that joined in the reindeer games.
I remember taking overdoses of cold medicine and feigning illness because I hated going to school.
Did other people see the movie? And what were your thoughts.
