Thursday night I went to Colorado Kitchen with my mother, which is in her neighborhood. It was total comfort food. I had a creamy tomato bisque, followed by crab cakes on a bed of fresh creamed corn and roasted tomatoes. Dessert was homemade pineapple upside cake, all buttery sweet crust and tender cake.
Last night I ate a W Domku, a place in the Petworth area that specializes in Eastern European (Polish & Serbian!) and Scandanavian food. We ate pirogies, Swedish meatballs, pickled herring and beet salad. I washed it down with a pomegranite cocktail that knocked me on my ass.
