Teh Meme of Names
Just came back from the gym and feeling like something made out of soft dough :-P There's this class called Body Balance which combines elements of Tai-Chi, Yoga, and other meditative disciplines, and I decided to attend today because I was feeling quite stiff and made of creaky joints. I found that it's an excellent place to be mentally planning smut, and some of the stretching postures were quite inspiring ;-) And in the final 5 minutes they left us to just lie down on the mats and relax, and they put on 'May It Be' from the FOTR soundtrack. There was a bit of thunder outside and the beginning of rain, and it was heavenly.

Write a little paragraph about your name, why you chose it, what it means to you, etc.
Oh, this is embarassing. Etharei is the result of my first rather shoddy attempt at creating an 'Elven-sounding' name, using the glossary at the back of the Silmarillion. It's comprised of the words 'ethuil' (spring) and 'arë' (sunlight), and I have a sinking suspicion that the former is Sindarin whilst the latter is Quenya. I'd like to think that I know better, now :-P I used it when I started writing fanfiction about 5 years ago, and continued using it when I joined the LOTR Fanatics Plaza (where I've just passed my 3rd year Plazanniversary). I added Helkamirë, which roughly translates (or so I hope) to 'icy jewel', when I joined another RPG forum later on as a Wolf of Angband.
Due to the inordinate amounts of time I spend online as Etharei, these days I feel more familiar with that name than my RL one. I do answer to Etharei or Rei in real life ('Rei' is pronounced sort of like 'Ray', but think of an 'e' sound rather than an 'a'). So I'd like to think that it's as much my name as the one my parents gave me; I certainly feel that it suits my personality more than my real one.
What would you change your name to, if you were changing it?
Batty ^_^ Actually, I'm not sure, since it's the one I've been using for years (both in fanfic and RPG) and I've sort of grown into it. I can't really imagine using any other name, especially not my real one.
What is your favorite username? Why?
I have to say that I love anorielle's name, because it sounds so lyrical but without being so obviously 'elvish'. I love the sound of keiliss's and daeomae's. I also like the names of some of my friends on the Plaza, like Maetalia and Tiana.
