So I finally got a laptop--Upside: 1 GB Ram, Core 2 Duo processor, 100 GB HDD, $800. Down side: Gateway. Overall its not too bad of a deal. It was $860 with tax, minus the warranty. so I'll still end up saving about $400 over the apple with the same warranty. :)
