[FIC] Love Me Twice (… because I just can’t let you go) [14/??]

~Chapter Fourteen~

Yunho prioritized himself with organizing papers in his office and getting ready for another one of the company’s big meetings that was going to take place in the conference room in 30 minutes. Occasionally, he would steal quick glances at the time on the wall, knowing fully well that right now Changmin was talking to JaeJoong about getting back together. He’d be lying if he said he wasn’t worried, because the truth was he was a nervous wreck. He hoped and prayed to god then that if anyone could get through to Jae, it was Changmin … maybe.

After talking with Jae, Changmin also promised he’d call and inform him on how Jae took it all. Even though he knew he wouldn’t be updated on their status until after his meeting with the others, he groaned in agony when he realized he had to wait another two hours.

Indeed, this was going to be the longest two hours of Yunho’s life.

“That’s right over there in aisle 11”, Junsu answered, directing one of his customer’s towards the spices near the front of the store. The woman thanked him before going on her way and Junsu offered her a warm smile before returning back to his profession.

“What time do you get off work?” Yoochun asked out of the blue.

“In another hour or so. Why?”

Yoochun shrugged, “I was just wondering.”

They locked eyes for what seemed like forever before Junsu turned away first, feeling his face flush from embarrassment.

“I was wondering if you’d like to go out with me tonight.”

“Right, because it worked out so well the first time” he replied sarcastically.

“It won’t be like that time. I thought we could spend it in a quiet place, like my apartment?”

Junsu raised an eyebrow at him, “and what exactly did you have in mind?”

“Should I give you a preview?” he said seductively as he walked up to Junsu and pushed him backwards until his back hit an empty wall.

Yoochun pressed their lips together as he bought his hand up to rest against Junsu’s right cheek. A few seconds later, Junsu tasted something sweet in his mouth, a taste similar to strawberries.

He smiled in their kiss, refusing to break apart now that things were getting a bit more interesting. The piece of confection traveled back and forth between them, tongues battling for dominance over the other until they were both out of breath and Junsu was sure he was the winner of the prize.

Yoochun withdrew from him slowly and gazed down in to his deep, brown eyes. “So? What do you say?”

“What time should I be there?”

Yoochun chuckled at him, “around 7 should be good.”

Junsu nodded before Yoochun continued, “I should get going. I have some errands to run, but I’ll see you tonight?”

“Definitely.”

Yoochun smiled to himself as he left the store. He was glad Junsu was finally opening up to him again. He missed Junsu terribly over the past few years, and now, the only thing he wanted in return was for Junsu to give him his heart as he’s already done to him.

The only problem they were faced with now was confronting JaeJoong and Yunho about it. Yoochun had to admit he was a bit scared of the outcome, but never kept hoping that a miracle would happen where everything in the end would turn out alright.

While sitting in the small restaurant, JaeJoong refused to make eye contact with Changmin. He didn’t mind however because he had been preparing himself for this.

“I heard you met up with Yunho the other day?” Changmin began.

JaeJoong side-eyed Na Young on his right and saw her quietly munching on her food. “Yeah, we did.”

An awkward silence passed between the two as Changmin reached for his drink across the table. He took a small sip before placing it back down on the coaster and continuing on.

“Why did you leave Yunho in the first place?” he asked, cutting right to the chase.

“… Yunho already knows why.”

“I’m not going back to Yunho and telling him anything you’re telling me now. This is for my knowledge alone.”

“Why do you care then?”

He sighed, “Look, I know I haven’t exactly been nice to you since we’ve met, but from the moment Yunho stopped talking to me 3 weeks ago I felt I needed to know why he’s beginning to cut ties with me.”

JaeJoong looked up at him surprised, “he what?”

“Yunho and I haven’t talked in the longest time, and when he told me you left him I was shocked. I know the reason you left him was because of me, but am I the barrier that’s blocking you from going back to him also?”

JaeJoong turned away from him; feeling discouraged to Changmin that yes, whatever he just said is all true.

Changmin fiddled with his fingers underneath the table, “should I take that as a yes then?”

JaeJoong still refused to speak.

“I just want you to understand something. Yunho isn’t the type of guy that moves on with regret, but now that you’re not in his life anymore, it seems to be his new way of living. As a friend I’d like to see him happy, to be successful in everything he does. He can’t function without you, ever since high school when he first layed eyes on you, he knew he couldn’t let you go so easily. He kept going, refusing to take no for an answer. You need to understand, Yunho changed for the better because he met and loved someone like you. I could’ve never done something that drastic, even as a friend who had always been by his side…”

“That’s why you need to give Yunho another chance. None of what happened was his fault. I … I tricked him into coming out with me every night because I didn’t want him to go back to you … because I’m jealous of you and the kind of life you’re living.”

So that’s what it is, JaeJoong thought, while Changmin was jealous of me I was jealous of him because it seemed as if Yunho’s first priority was his friends and not family.

“Part of it is Yunho’s fault” JaeJoong stated, “he had a choice whether he wanted to do things with you or not and he chose to. He’s been ignoring both me and Na Young. When I told him I needed him around more, even then he continued to ignore us. It just felt like Yunho was losing interest in me” he said saddened.

“You’ve got to be out of your mind if you think Yunho would ever leave you for anyone, including me.”

“But the thing with that is I can’t remember that far back. I can’t remember ever meeting Yunho in high school or having feelings for him or even the way we had treated each other then.”

Changmin glanced at him puzzled, “what do you mean?”

JaeJoong felt tears threatening to fall from his eyes, and with the last bit of strength he had left in him, he refused to let them slip out and become visible.

“I lost my memories in an accident four years ago.”

Silence. It was deafening to both their ears. Changmin especially, regretted his actions when he first met JaeJoong again after so long. Yunho never told him of this, probably because he wanted everyone JaeJoong met to treat him like they would to a regular person.

“I’m sorry Jae. I had no idea” he murmured quietly. “But please, give Yunho another chance; he misses you and Na Young so much. He … he still loves you two more than anything.”

Changmin paused for a moment to catch his breath, “if it makes you feel any better, I’d like you to be the first to know that I’m going back to Paris.”

“Y-you’re leaving?” JaeJoong stuttered incredulously.

Changmin nodded, “It’s about time I get back there and do what I do best. Besides, I know now that even though I love Seoul with all my heart, this isn’t where I belong. Something better awaits me back in Paris; I just have to go look for it.”

JaeJoong honestly didn’t know how to react to all this. On the inside though, he was all giddy and excited, because now that he would be out of the picture, JaeJoong had no reason not to go back to Yunho.

“Please take care of yourself. I know your best interest is in Na Young and the twins, so I know you’ll do what you believe is right.”

“But I -”

“Say no more, you probably want me to leave anyways so I’ll just go” he said rising up from his seat.

“… Changmin?”

“Hmm?” he said turning to JaeJoong.

“Thanks.”

Changmin smiled at him before making his way out of the restaurant. He pulled out his new cell phone as he trotted down the road, punching in Yunho’s number. Now that everything was set in motion, all there was left to do is wait. Things would go back to the way they were soon, and then eventually, everything will move on again as if nothing ever happened in the first place.

When Yunho didn’t pick up, Changmin figured he was still attending his meeting and decided to call him later. He dragged his feet back to his apartment to pack, carrying with him his pride and dignity. As much as his heart hurts now, he knew he had another mission in store for him back in Paris.

“It’s freezing out there” Junsu shivered as he entered in Yoochun’s apartment. “You better have something hot to warm me up.”

“I have a couple things in mind” he answered playfully, “Did you have dinner?”

“Not yet” he admitted.

“Well your in luck, I just took ramen off the stove 2 minutes ago.”

“That’s what you eat for dinner?”

“Listen, I never said I was the world’s greatest cook. I only eat what I can make and ramen seems to be pretty easy considering it only takes like what, 3-5 minutes to make?”

“Hey, I never said anything so don’t hold me against it” Junsu said putting his hands up in defense. “As long as you have food for me to eat I’m all good to go.”

Yoochun smiled at him as he went to get bowls and spoons and set them down on the dinning table. After getting their noodles and drinks ready, they finally sat down to eat.

A comfortable silence passed between them, as if they were merely enjoying each other’s presence and there was no need for words to be said. Junsu eyes traveled around the room slowly. The last time he was here, he hadn’t taken the time to see for himself just how Yoochun’s lifestyle was exactly. And at that moment, the picture above the fireplace spoke it all.

“You still have that?” Junsu nodded towards the frame.

Yoochun turned to see what he was talking about and shook his head, “of course, it was the day we ditched school together and went the amusement park. That was really a memorable day for me.”

“Why? Because you got sick from the rain that day and we had to cut out ‘date’ short?” Junsu snorted.

“No, because it was the first time you ever told me you loved me.”

Junsu’s heartbeat began to quicken as he looked back in Yoochun’s direction. The way he was staring at him made his stomach do flips, and when he reached across the table to hold his hand, Junsu knew he was done for.

He cautiously stood up from his seat and went to sit on Yoochun’s lap. Junsu wrapped his arms around his neck as Yoochun began leaving butterfly kisses on his collar bone.

“I love you” Yoochun breathed hotly against his skin.

Junsu shook his head, “don’t.”

“I can’t help it” he said and cupped Junsu’s face between his hands, “I just can’t let you go.”

“We shouldn’t even be here doing this.”

“But we are” Yoochun pecked his lips. “And I can’t let this opportunity pass us by so easily. I love you.”

“And what opportunity might that be?”

Yoochun smiled as he and Junsu stood up and walked a few feet down to his bedroom. He stood erect behind Junsu and started unbuttoning his cotton shirt, allowing the fabric to slide down his shoulders on to the floor.

“Stay with me tonight” Yoochun pleaded.

He kissed him on the lips and it was then Junsu knew that no matter how much this was going to hurt the both of them later on, it was a chance he was willing to take. He couldn’t stand leaving tonight either. He wanted to tell Yoochun he loved him too, but for some reason, something was holding him back.

“Fine” he answered as he stumbled back on the mattress, “but just this once.”

After his meeting, Yunho tried calling Changmin over 7 times within the next 3 hours he had left till the work day ended. However, the latter never picked up. Yunho felt something was wrong, but since he had no idea where Changmin was staying because he had changed hotels just a few weeks back, he couldn’t even go visit him to see if everything was alright.

With an empty heart, he returned back home. He crept tiredly up the front steps and stopped in his tracks when he saw the porch lights on. He glanced at them oddly before trotting up the pathway diligently.

“Yunho!”

He stopped walking when he heard his name being called out in a familiar voice. He turned around to the owner and stared skeptically at the person walking up to him.

“… Jae?”

Yunho’s lips quivered slightly as JaeJoong lunged himself at him for a longing embrace. At first, he stood there in utter shock, but his hands eventually rose from his sides gradually and wrapped themselves around JaeJoong’s waist. He thought then that he had to have been hallucinating. JaeJoong couldn’t be back here so suddenly … could he?

“I’m sorry” JaeJoong murmured against his chest. “I’m so sorry.”

Yunho cradled him in his arms a little while longer before pushing him away carefully so they could gaze into each other’s eyes.

“I’m the one who should be sorry Jae” he said, smoothing his hair down, “and I’m sorry I didn’t do this a long time ago.”

And before JaeJoong had time to react, Yunho’s lips were already molded on to his for a sensual kiss both had yearned for the longest time now.

JaeJoong smiled through tears as he glided his arms around his neck, bringing their bodies closer. He couldn’t deny the fact he wanted Yunho back as much as he wanted him. And at a perfect moment like this in the middle of cool, winter night, there couldn’t be a better time despite the bitter cold.

Yunho pulled back first and rested his forehead against JaeJoong’s. He snaked his hands down to his stomach and stroked it gently.

“For their sake, please don’t ever leave me again.”

JaeJoong laughed as he wiped his tear-stained cheeks with the back of his hand, “I won’t, as long as you make sure to never neglect us again.”

Yunho cupped his chin as he brushed his lips against his, “Never. That’s a promise I plan to keep forever.”

“Good, because forever is how long I plan to be together with you.”

“I love you, more than anything” Yunho said, hugging him once more.

JaeJoong smiled, “I know, and I love you too.”

“Hold on a minute, where’s Na Young?” he questioned.

“She’s waiting inside.”

“… The house?”

JaeJoong nodded, “Ready to go in and see her? She’s been waiting for you all night.”

“Yeah”, Yunho said and clasped his hand with JaeJoong’s, “I’m ready to go anywhere you are.”

They proceeded onwards to where their little girl was waiting patiently for them. Yunho anxiously reached for the door handle and slowly turned the knob to the right to open it.

“Ah!” JaeJoong suddenly shrieked in pain, releasing his hold on Yunho. He clutched on to his stomach tightly and lost his balance as he staggered backwards on the ground.

“J-JaeJoong!”

Yunho stared down at him in horror, fearing the worst yet to come.
