I've been in San Francisco interviewing with GEOS, and I'll hear from them whether I'm hired tomorrow...crossing fingers lol! My GEOS interview was a grueling 2 day ordeal, I'm so glad its over...but I feel like if I made it thru this I can make it thru anything. I lived, but I'm not sure if I'm hired or not. It was extremely hard to tell. So everyone went out drinking afterward and I went too but i just had water. I've been soooo thirsty wtf. The air is dry as shit here. Its like I need the humidity... On a good note - I found my long lost peach lip gloss in my coat pocket! yay lol.
San Francisco is a really cool city, not that i got to see a lot of it, but I saw a little. I like it here. But I can feel my lips cracking. Anyway tomorrow I can escape to home - boring old humid home.
Anyway I think my teaching demo went well. I really was able to fill 30 min and I looked hot in my suit oooOOoooh!
But still...not sure what the interviewer thought. He was trying hard not to give feedback to anyone bc we all had the same experience with him - no facial expression or feedback at the end. He told one girl she didnt have to worry, but everyone else is waaaaaaaaaaaaiting and worrying. sigh.
One way or another I'm getting to Japan...but I would really like to work with GEOS. The more I heard about it, the better it looked. it sounds totally nice and like they will take care of me!!!! and it sounds really laid back and friendly, like you are supposed to hang out with students otuside class and stuff and when its not busy you can leave. Its more like an eikaiwa than a school and classes are in the evenings..but that means the work day starts at noon. sweet. It also means I won't be late to work, and I can call home at night when ppl are actually awake/not busy, and I will have time before classes to prepare lessons...le sigh.
You know what the best thing about this weekend was though? Food. The building where the interviews were held was above a See's store. If you don't know about See's chocolates, you are not yet alive. They are the best chocoaltes I have ever eaten, they are a western brand, and they cost roughly what Rocky Mtn Chocolate factory or Godiva do. But they taste way better. We used to only get them at xmas time and now we never get them. :(
Anyway I went in to the store just to smell it. (OMG) The lady working gave me a free sample which was a whole chocolate! Then I was like omfg i need these and i bought 2. I ate one later yesterday and I'm saving the other for tomorrow. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven when I ate the free one. I should have gotten a boxful. They sell them at the airports out here but I want a box of just milk chocolate covered almond caramels....I'm a picky bitch, aren't I?
Today for dinner I had the best pesto I've ever had (of course it was on pasta) I have some of that left for lunch tomorrow before I get on the plane. The other girls at the interview wanted to just get drunk when it was done so we went to this place right on the water ("the bay"?) to eat and it was yum. they had beers and I had water and we all had food cuz we were the starvations. I had no lunch bc i was 1. studying for my teaching demo and 2. afraid i'd puke it up. So afterwards I was of course starving. and had the dry mouth/skin/dying of thirst thing going on. No words can describe how badly I thought I needed that water. I chugged that shit.
Anyway, so tomorrow my fate is sealed! well kind of. if I don't get it I'm going to keep applying and harrassing this dude till he pays attention and realizes I want this job, damn it. But first, I'm going to see about tomorrow, and then Interac next Saturday. urrrrgh! so many interviews. I have decided I really like pencil skirts and they are going to become a staple in my wardrobe (ppl that knew me in high school just had to read that 3 more times and check whose lj this is again to make sure they have the right one...I was not a skirt person to say the least.)
I'll be flying home tomorrow and getting in around 11:30, just in tiem to go to sleep and get up early for work oh noes! But since I'm off monday, it will be a 3 day week (its my off friday week).
In conclusion I highly recommend going to the west coast for job interviews - you will not be tired bc you get to "sleep in" by your standards, but still get there on time or early, like I did. Yay!
