Summary: Sakura begins to realize what Tomoyo begins to mean to her when Tomoyo falls ill.
Her pale cheeks were flushed, her blue eyes cloudy, and entire body shivering evidently through the heavy blankets draped over her.
“Tomoyo!”
Sakura rushed over to her and sat down on the bed next to her. Tomoyo had called earlier, sounding dazed and apologizing for missing school and leaving Sakura to do the oral presentation in Japanese class on her own.
“Sakura, what are you doing here?”
“I was worried.” Sakura said.
“I’m okay,” Tomoyo said. “You should really leave, I don’t want you catching what I have.”
“No big deal,” Sakura said. “Besides, with your parents gone, someone has to take care of you!”
Tomoyo looked as if she was going to protest, but her eyes dropped and she feel asleep instantly.
Sakura settled more comfortably and began to stroke Tomoyo’s hair. It wasn’t long before Tomoyo pressed her warm body against Sakura’s, desperate for warmth.
Sakura was surprised to feel her face flush slightly. She brushed off the feeling and continued to stroke Tomoyo’s hair. Tomoyo’s heavy breathing settled after awhile, and her shivering became less pronounced.
Sakura watched and held her throughout the night, thoughts of telling her family where she was far away from her mind, replaced by worry and love for her best friend.
