I there! Face here! And you're watching...Niiick Jr.!
...
Okay, maybe not. But for some reason that line was stuck in my head, so I had to write it. Yes, this is me blaming the voices in my head. Cope.
Anyway, I figured an update to my lj was in order, seeing as how it's been ages and ages since I posted last. Things are spiffy. I just got back from Texas a week or so ago, and all in all the visit was surprisingly pleasant. Hectic, but pleasant. Everytime I get back from home and WW3 hasn't started, I'm always mildly surprised. Fourth of July was fun, it was nice to see everybody that I haven't seen in a long time (and some new people!) and I generally had a very good time. The awesome backrub Poeticruse gave me might've played a large part on that. =D
Also, since some people asked and most others didn't...
I have one, get this, ONE! more semester of college. Providing of course I don't goof up or slack off or any of those other things that generally make my semesters suck. So yeah, wish me luck!
Only other news to report is my new pair of feesh. Yeah, I'm a happy owner of two betta feesh that now live happily on my desk in a small aquarium. Why do I have feesh? It's a fairly long story, but it involved a mercy rescue of a very sad (and very ugly) feesh from PetSmart while I was in Austin.
I wasn't really looking into buying a fish. I was mainly there to get pond equipment for my parents and I decided to take a look at the betta prisons in the aquarium section and there I saw him. The li'l guy just looked up at me with his biiig black eyes and warned me that if I ever looked at him with that pitying look again, he'd rip my arms off and feed them to me. How can a girl resist a look like that? So I bought him, took him home, gave him a tank all to himself, and generally doted on him. Unfortunately, I think all that time swimming in the water at the petstore that held the decaying bodies of his dead friends gave him some bad infection, so before I could bring him home to Pittsburgh and properly house, feed, and medicate him with all the new toys I bought him and had shipped there, he died. It was sad. It was tragic. I still don't like thinking about it.
Anyway, my poor little feesh had died, and I had all this aquarium stuff waiting for me when I got back to Pittsburgh, so I went and bought two new fish from Alan's Pet and Plant store in Squirrel Hill. I ended up getting a beautiful black betta with red and blue fins and an almost carbon copy of the fish I'd had lost in Austin. I didn't really want to get him, but the stupid pink fish just looked at me so reproachfully for putting him back on the shelf that I gave in. Stupid fish. Remind me not to have kids. If fish can guilt trip me that bad, I'd never survive around chilluns. So now I have a black feesh and a pink feesh. I named them Genghis Khan and Napoleon Bonaparte, but mainly that was to soothe their fishie egos. When they're not looking, I call them pinkie and blackie. Makes my life easier. If people really wanna see 'em, the gallery is
here. The pictures are blurry and the lightning is bad, but in my defense, fish don't exactly hold still for you and the flash kept bouncing off the side of the tank. So, no complaining.
Anyway, that's all I really have to say for now. Talk to you guys later!
