50 POINTS FROM ROWLINGDOR

Jul 23, 2007 23:21

I had a bad day. A horrible, no good, very bad day. But I did finish Harry Potter, and Erin took me to the Dennys where we used to hang out after high school and talked things out with me, so that was good. And we started planning for my birthday/Aaron's going away/Erin & Jake's housewarming party. I'll tell you one thing: the theme is hobos. Awesome!

So, for the record? I never stopped believing in Snape. I knew it would come out in the end that he was still working under Dumbledore's orders. And you know what? I cried a little when he died. You know why? Because I always picture him like this

I actually really liked the book. I think it was a good ending to the series....although the epilogue was a teensy bit indulgent. It's justified though, because it really means the series is over. I really thought she'd leave it open for further adventures (not that she necessarily would write more, I just thought she'd leave the possibility there), but that sort of takes care of that. Also, Megs pointed something out that I didn't think about at the time, but I really like: she showed that Harry is still somewhat recognizable, but not overtly so, meaning that he's just what she called a "shmoe wizard," not someone in a position of power.
Oh man, was Neville AWESOME or what? Bad fucking ass! Go team dork! That made me almost as happy as Percy redeeming himself. Okay, so it was a little like "Hello I'm a loose end would you like to tie me up?" but it still made me happy. And Molly calling Bellatrix a bitch, that was comedy GOLD.
The only thing that really REALLY pissed me off was both Remus and Tonks dying. Leaving Teddy an orphan is total balls, Rowling. YOU HEARD ME I SAID BALLS.
I could say more, but it's like an hour after my bedtime, and eff that. In the end, I am happy with the way the series ended. And I'm going to name my kid Albus Severus.

Not really.

Spoilers above.
