No, really. It started off like any other crappy work day: woke up too early, fell asleep on the bus and missed my stop, was a little late to work, worked, took an hour-long bus ride to Northgate.
This, my friends, is when shit started to get AWESOME.
Tonight, as you may have noticed if you read my journal at all, was MxPx night. They did an acoustic in-store at Northgate, and damn did a lot of kids show up. I got there a little late and couldn't see the stage (they were sitting down, how lame is that) but it was good times. Halfway through the show I realized I was standing next to Nic Newsham, whom I haven't seen in approximately a dog's age. I said hi and we chatted a bit, but he left early. Apparently Gatsby's is breaking up? I'm not exactly broken-hearted, their last album was a bit on the sucky side. I hope Nic does a new project that rocks, because I still like his voice.
Q: What's more fun than singing along to "Chick Magnet" with Nic Newsham?
A: Very little.
Then I ran into the cute Jones rep who came into my store a few weeks back and talked to us about putting a Jones fridge in the store. Dean vetoed the idea, but the guy still brought us some Jones, which was nice. He gave me a bottle and we hung out and chatted in line for the signing; me waiting for a picture and him waiting to give the band a 4-pack of Jones and his card. Can you believe they hadn't heard of Jones Soda? That was almost as surprising as the fact that Mike didn't comment on my Unlovables shirt. And that, in the picture I took, I leaned over so you can't read the shirt. D'oh.
You think the awesomeness is complete? Far from it, gentle reader. Jason (said Jones rep), gave me a ride home in the MOTHERFUCKING JONES VAN. Yes, I am now cooler than I ever have been. He's married, so ixnay on the utecay, but he's awesome and I told him we should be friends. I hope we will be, I like having new friends. He apparently also saw me at the Humane Society the day I adopted Dodger. Aw, we're cat buddies!
Now I'm home and HOO BOY I'm wired. I'm going to find an awesome place to pin up my neat signed MxPx poster.
p.s. Mike Herrera still makes me swoon a little bit.
