From Fandom to Holywood

This is how you go from writing Harry Potter fanfiction to releasing your own book series to having Holywood make big-ass movies based on your books.

The trailer looks a little lame and I have heard bad things about Cassandra Clare's time in the Potter fandom, but it still makes me smile to see people rise up from fanfiction into original fiction (one that sells quite well, too) that gets its own movie.

I read the first two parts of the Mortal Instruments series (if I remember correctly) and the writing wasn't half-bad. Not my favorite book and there was a lot that could have been better in terms of characters and plot, but still... decent. It was better than, for instance, The Demon Lexicon by Sarah Rees Brennan, aka Maya - that book was ok, but very disappointing in comparison to the brilliantly witty H/D fiction she used to write.

Anyway, I was going to write a real post, about, you know, life - I have decided to try to update more often and get back into the habit of writing/blogging, because I feel like Facebook and co. are slowly but surely dumbing me down a little, not to mention that my writing and my vocabulary have suffered since I stopped writing (in general). But not today, since I got a last-minute task at work and then I probably won't have time.

I also keep wanting to write about things that make me lose hope in humanity, current fashion hates and my desperation about the immense stupidity of the majority of humans, but I will save that for some other time, too - or maybe not write about it at all, in an attempt to be a little less negative. ;)

Happy Friday.

PS: WTF have you done with the tag window, LiveJournal?!
