Pa-pa-pa-pa-papagano! And the rest ...
JB & I have been out to the Southern Opera production of 'The Magic Flute'. Absolutely wonderful, excellent cast and amazingly innovative sets and direction. All around brilliant, in fact.
JB loved it, especially the monster and the child actors and the flying bit. And he's gone to sleep (two hours after his bedtime) listening to his 'Classical Kids' version of the story. He did remarkably well about being quiet and relatively non-squirmy, despite three hours in uncomfortable seats and being scarily high in the gods. But he says he thinks he wants to be at least twelve before he goes to another opera, so his legs are longer.
It was great fun to actually go out for once -- dressed up and all. (Pity my bank balance won't stretch to more such events ...) And I love that this was something JB really wanted to do, rather than a Cultural Experience of my choosing.
