Something interesting and something not

Interesting thing what happened today:

I was busking downtown today, and a police officer walked up and started asking me questions (for starters, "were you asking people for money earlier?"). o.O Apparently somebody had called in that there was a panhandler at, er, my location...? Of course I was polite and of course she had to check out my ID and check in with the person on the other end of the radio to see if my record was clean. In the meantime, she asked things like where I went to school and if I still lived at the address on my ID (and also how long I'd been playing flute).

Fortunately I hadn't been panhandling (and I've now effectively confirmed that busking is legal here), so everything was fine.

Not-so-interesting thing:

Maestro is sick. Very very sick. He shouldn't have been at Ring tonight (but he was, because it was an open house).

I think he started feeling bad last week, and I don't know how long the incubation period for whatever he's got is. I'd like to know, because I shared his water on Labor Day weekend (the weekend before he got sick).I suspect the best thing to do is to assume that I'm not gonna get whatever it is. Of course, I'm a terminal worrier, so that might be difficult.

The time is now 00:00. :P *nerd with phone set to 24-hour time*

On Sunday, at RenFest, I got a surprising hug. :) It was slightly discombobulating.

There's this band I go to see called Djilia Phralengo. One member (the main member) is named Ernesto. I've been to enough of their performances that Ernesto now recognises me (and knows I give them money :P). He also knows I work at Faire, because he's seen me 'working' at the booth (nobody was around yet) and has actually once shared the food our booth gets at the end of the day from the vendors (since they have to get rid of whatever's left) - people do that, since there's more than we can eat, usually.

Anyway, I went to two of their performances Sunday. At the morning performance, I bought a copy of their new CD. After the afternoon performance, I went up to talk to Ernesto, I think, and I said something about if I keep giving them money I won't have any and he said something about thank you for coming and listening and I hope you're enjoying the CD, to which I answered that I'd bought it that morning but I'm sure I'll enjoy it (which I do), and a short conversation ensued about chronological confusion. Anyway. At some point? He gave me a hug, just sort of randomly. It was startling, but nice, and I walked over to the next place I needed to be with a totally idiotic grin plastered on my face.

Hugs do strange things to my psyche, apparently. :P (But I knew that already.)

hugs, think up your own damn tag, busking, renfest, health, illness, sick, flute
