Amaranth's and Thraesja's Exalted Planet Designation Generator

I have long used amaranthtraces and thraesja's Exalted Planet Designation Generator whenever I need a planet designation for one of my stories. It (not-quite) randomly generates a planet designation (e.g., P2G-721) based on canon rules. Totally awesome. Alas, their domain expired recently as they no longer are in the fanfic writing biz, but I contacted them and they are open-source, and they graciously handed over the code and notes and allowed me to host it on esteefee.com.

So here 'tis, for any of us SG-1/SGA writers needing planet designations in the Milky Way or Pegasus Galaxies:
