life: time change bites me on the ass every damned year

Nov 19, 2012 13:07

Every year, and I swear this, I swear this to high holy heaven-though I don't believe in heaven, only in the dissipation of all my neurons into wormdust, but did I, would I swear-that EACH AND EVERY DAMNED YEAR it catches me by surprise ( Read more... )

♥ Sometimes the effect of triggers and known triggers can be super hard to spot until you're the beagle in the pool and are like, "WTF how did I get here? I'm wet."

I'm sorry the time change is making your brain difficult. *squish*

I think I need to set an iCal repeating alarm for the second Sunday in November: "Warning! Last week DST ended! Are you soaking wet?"

You totally could. It might ease the transition if you cab prepare yourself for it, and maybe get a few friends to check on your/provide support in advance.I am always available by email for that shit. But I imagine it would be easier to have someone local.

I was sitting at my desk this morning thinking... "where did I go?" Caught my reflection in something reflective and almost said out loud, "who the hell are you?" It starts for me a week before the change over and last for another 2-3 weeks (and I think it's worse since we started changing back over later). But today was the first day I ended up in a panic thinking, god, maybe I'm really depressed - not shit, those pants fit two months ago depressed, but really, really everything sucks depressed.

So, thank you!! The song gave me a smile and in some odd way... hope. I just need to get through a few more days...

And I hope you're feeling better, dear. It's a horrible feeling and I'm sorry it's this bad for you, too.

oh, *SMISHHUG*

I'm glad the song could make you smile. I swear: when we played out the whole audience would sing along, and there was just something so cathartic about having an entire roomful of people singing EVERYTHING SUCKS at the top of their lungs. something about the lyrics being so over the top really helps. :) and being together in it. so I hug you and we'll just hang in there and in a little while it will pass. it's just chemistry.

Sounds like classic SAD to me. Have you asked your doctor about treatments? I think there is a certain kind of light bulb or lamp you can use at home to get full-spectrum illumination that is supposed to be helpful.

I live in Northern Ohio where we have a serious lack of sunlight from November through March. It can be incredibly depressing by February! ((hugs))

thanks, babe. I tried full spectrum bulbs but they messed with my sleep cycles and didn't seem to help on the emotional front.

*squishes you* Ohio weather! I don't know how you do it.

Ohhh! I had not meant to use that icon! Kissy on the lips might be a little OTT, even for many many words! (steve & cath are very cute though, so there is that.. ;)
