closed RP: Susan Sto Helit and Stephen Maturin: comparing notes
(( Takes place after Susan's conversation with Gin, Dib's owls to Stephen and Susan, and Stephen's re-emergence from a week incommunicado. ))
Aloysius had been dutifully collecting all the owls that should have reached Stephen and River while they were not-precisely-away, leaving on Stephen's office desk a pile of letters (some of them pointless -- for example, who cared that Morfin Jones was holding a schoolwide support group in the Great Hall, anyhow? and by this time the group's meeting had already taken place two days ago). Stephen found Dib's message first, so when he got around to an innocuous-looking note from Susan mentioning an animal she'd gotten from Dr Grant in Care of Magical Creatures, he suspected there was probably more on the agenda than the transferral of said animal, though he did look forward most eagerly to seeing a tribble.
He dashed off a quick reply, equally innocuous and bland, asking Susan to come to his office with the animal as soon as possible. It sounded mammalian, so he felt confident it should in no way resemble a duck...
