I feel I have been remiss in my duties to you, friends of mine- though I reported how I felt about them on Twitter, I've yet to tell you about the awesome video games I've gone through this year.
Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack In Time is rumored to be the last installment in the series. If that is indeed the case, I can't think of a better note for these guys to go out on than what they did with this one. The puzzles are challenging without being frustrating, the weapons awesome to toy with and the story is the best that they've come up with yet. If you like shooters, pick this one up, I guarantee a good time.
After that it was Bayonetta. Most of you have at least heard of, if not played this one. It's from the makers of Devil May Cry, and it takes everything that was good and bad about that series and makes it better and worse here. The combat system is fun, although if you want to get all the weapons, you damn well better look up a strategy guide. The story... you know, if you want to enjoy it at all, pretend there isn't one. Won't be difficult.
And finally, I got done with Bioshock 2 recently. The gameplay was much improved from the first installment, and though the story lost a smidgen of its punch, along with its length, overall it was more of the same amazement the first game had to offer.
Just picked up Wad of Gore III. The first 10 minutes included running on the back of a titan and fighting a horse made of water with crab claws and a scorpion tail. Gonna be a good one.
And now, more music- last of this here batch:
!!! or Chk Chk Chk as they're sometimes called are... an interesting group. They don't really fit into one genre. The Sacramento-based group puts out tunes that always have a beat to go with them, but they also have roots in rock and anarchist punk. They're definitely a group that's better than they sound:
"Yadnus""Myth Takes [A Couth Take]" Rodrigo y Gabriela's second album isn't as good as their first- but it's damn close. The talented Spanish duo continue to put out insanely high-quality guitar instrumentals. Their technique is impeccable and there really is something, stylistically, for everyone. Note that these tracks are meant to be listened to back-to-back:
"Logos""Santo Domingo" Museum class is finally over this week. Startin' up my museum gig tomorrow. Exciting times.
