Yuletide recs III

If you haven't found the archive by now... Probably my last before the authors are revealed, though I haven't finished reading the fandoms I know yet & there's still a huge diversity of fandoms I don't to dip into.

Waste Our Lights in Vain, by Nifra Idril
Romeo and Juliet. There are three Romeo/Mercutio treasures this year, and I've not recommended one in previous rounds cos they're all so good, & so different, I couldn't decide between them. But I think this one is my favourite for its sensuous descriptive prose and interesting characterisations

And finally, a trio of humour...

That Tongue Thing, by makesmewannadie ADULT
Hitchhikers' Guide. I don't often recommend body swap stories, but hilarious doesn't even begin to cover this one. Adams' style is perfectly emulated, even if (especially if?) the result isn't something he'd have published.

Field Marshal, by lakester
Blackadder. I don't think I've ever recommended script format before, but this could so easily be an episode from the Beeb. Worth reading just for the turnip joke.

The Unlikely Story of a Nobleman's Daughter, by Dafna Greer
Lord Peter Wimsey. An unusual case for the great detective. Beautifully written and hilarious from line 1.

shakespeare, rec, wimsey, hhgg, yuletide
