Frankenstein hummed, watching the cylinder rise, steam billowing out. Well, that was this batch finished but who would taste test it?

"What are you doing?"

He turned around, smiling, to see Grisia looking curiously at the equipment. "I'm baking," he replied, wondering if he should offer them to the young man.

Hearing that, a spark lit up Grisia's eyes, and Frankenstein hid his sigh of relief. While Grisia had been happy for the first couple of days, finding out he didn't have to be the 'Sun Knight' here, it had waned as homesickness and loneliness made themselves known. Unfortunately, trying to send a person back to their own world when they had come by an unstable teleportation spell was far more difficult than flying through an open portal.

Grisia picked up one cake and plopped it in his mouth. And that was the first genuine happy smile Frankenstein had seen him make in days.

"Wow!" Grisia exclaimed, grinning widely. "These are almost as good as Ice's!"

…Almost? His smile freezing, Frankenstein asked, "How are Ice's better?"

"They're…" -Grisia waved a second cake in the air- "sweeter." He nodded. "Yeah, they're a lot sweeter than these."

Frankenstein frowned at the cakes. He'd made his own recipe for them, but they should have already been quite sweet.

"I'll see what I can do."

Hm. Frankenstein watched the steam rise from the new batch, unsure about the results. He could tell that he had overdone it with the sugar, the colouring off from what it should be, but…

"You made more already?"

Grisia leaned on the table, his hair almost trailing onto the tray and picked one up - he dropped it with a yelp a second later.

"…They just came out the oven." Frankenstein should have warned him earlier - Sun must have thought since the first batch were all right to pick up straight away, then the rest would be as well.

Grisia pouted at him, before poking at the cake. Apparently it had already cooled down enough for him, because he broke it into pieces and ate it. His face was thoughtful. "Ice's are still sweeter."

Right. Frankenstein was going to make something that Sun would enjoy!

* * *
Or maybe he wasn't. Frankenstein grimaced at the results of the latest batch: it was far more off-colour than the previous batch, and was essentially made of sugar and syrup. There was no nutritional value to it, there wouldn't be much flavour other than the overwhelming sweetness… It was a failure.

Grisia slid off the lab-bed and was eyeing the cakes with interest.

"Ah, I don't think you should…"

But Grisia had already eaten one. His eyes lit up and he hummed in delight. "These are better than Ice's!"

Frankenstein twitched. He was worse than Master…

So. Realisations while writing this: 'omg, what would happen to Sun's powers, since he's probably cut off from the God of Light now?', 'Would Sun get a job at the school as security? He's awful at swordwork (which he wouldn't be able to do anyway) and he couldn't use his magic in public (if he could even use it)', and 'Damn. Grisia's probably wearing someone else's clothes too. XDDD'.
