I've had one hell of a night. I was driving a fellow alum to a train station, to be a nice human, and my car started overheating. As in, steam started billowing out from under the hood. In the end he missed his train and I had to get my car towed to a AAA mechanic. I hope the mechanic is good? My mom was also clearly resentful of having to pick me up, drop my friend back off in Durham, then drive back to Raleigh (where we live). It's a great feeling when someone takes resentment out on you for something which did not result from a bad decision.

And it looks like I'm proof-reading the proposal the PI of my lab wrote in Engrish. It's 29 pages of Engrish. It's actually even better than that, because it is neuroimaging Engrish, which is not only grammatically incorrect but highly technical. It has become very clear to me that being at a top-20 research institution has serious lifestyle/quality of life downfalls. I guess these places aren't prestigious for nothing.

It's like how I called a friend of mine (the NCF alum) on his cell at 8:00 AM, and he answered, "This is X, Y lab" (where X is his name and Y  is the name of the professor leading his lab). I hope I am never roused from a deep slumber and answer with my name first and the name of the lab group I am working in. I want someone to slap me if so.

Oh and I made a twitter account for myself:
