Trying something new...

I realize that the reason I don't update very often is that after a day of working on the computer the last thing I want to do is spend a long time writing out a new entry. So, I decided to see if I could find some software so I could just dictate my journal entry and not have to type it all out. I found some software that will let me do that. I'm actually writing this entire entry by doing so.

I know it's been about 2 1/2 months since I last updated this thing. To my loyal LJ fans, I really don't have much of an excuse for that, except to say it's a classic case of enjoying life so much that I don't feel like writing about it.

A lot has happened in that time: I've been assigned a new project at work which actually has work for me to do, saw the Bristol Fourth of July parade like the last couple years, and was even a groomsmen in my best friend Bryan's wedding.

Since I've been actually working at work, I've been quite tired afterward. However, the fact that I'm not bored at work anymore and I'm getting involved in the design of the program that I've been working on, makes going to work a little bit easier. Well, it makes it more bearable anyway. Today, I was supposed to go down to the Navy base for a test of the communication method that were going to use, but one of the machines we were supposed to use wasn't ready so we'll probably be going "down the hill" tomorrow. It's tough to describe exactly what we're doing and I really don't feel like going into it here.

The wedding was July 15 and it was a lot of fun. There was a bit of a minor mishap with unrolling the carpet for the aisle but otherwise things went really well. The party bus was enormous and made for a fun ride. Father Unsworth recognized those of us that hadn't been St. Brendan's in a long time right away, which was kind of cool. After the ceremony, we went to the park across from the carousel in Riverside, then went to the reception at the Venus de Milo in Swansea. The reception lasted for a long time and was the most fun I've had in a while. We did a lot of dancing and the DJ even stayed later for us. Everyone left about 11 p.m. but most of the wedding party and some family members stayed and danced until midnight. It was a long night, after the reception there were a couple of stops to make, and after Denise and I both took showers it was easily 3 a.m. before we went to bed.

Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures but other people did, plus the photographer was putting the pictures they took online, so I didn't feel the need to take any. It was a little weird seeing Bryan get married because I've known him since sixth grade and it's further finalized the fact that we've grown into adults. However, it was nice to see him and Alissa so happy to start living the rest of their lives together.

Other than that, I've had a pretty active social life: seen a lot of movies, tons of hanging out, and busy weekends with friends, but I'm not going to write about all that. Mostly because it would take a lot of room and effort but partially because I'm having a hard time remembering it all. :)

So, this entire entry was dictated to my computer through a headset that I bought at Best Buy before bowling tonight. Speaking of which, last week I bowled a 289 game, which I got by throwing 10 strikes in a row then getting a 9 and picking up the spare. It's the high game in this league that I'm in, and the closest I've come to 300 since I bowled the 297 about six years ago.

Anyway, now that I don't have an excuse to not type an entry, hopefully I will be updating more often... but we all know that I make updating promises that I don't necessarily keep. Also, if there are any typos in this entry, I'm going to blame it on the software and the fact I'm very tired right now.
