Seasons - Beginning of Spring

Description: Takes place after Naruto gets back from training. Rather than starting out with one or the other admitting he likes the other, I’ve started it off on their first date!
Disclaimer: I don’t own Naruto/Naruto Shippuden or it’s characters, the same goes for Hetalia Axis Powers!

The themes are pretty much the same, there are some differences, but I chose them only because I was addicted to them…they are from the anime/manga “Hetalia Axis Powers”.

Kiba was blushing, running his fingers around the edge of his coffee cup.

Naruto smiled and reached across the café table to stroke Kiba’s cheek. “Come on, Kiba. Your suppose to be yourself on a date, especially a first date.”

Kiba muttered a ‘fine’, but his blush wasn’t just of shyness, but of all the eyes on his back in the café. “Sorry, its- I mean…everyone is staring at us.” How he wished Akamaru could’ve come in to keep everyone’s eyes off of him. The café had explicit rules of no animals inside, otherwise every other place in town would allowed Akamaru in.

Naruto glared at everyone who made a strange look at the two, making sure they stopped staring, one by one. And then, after everyone was done sending glances and peeks: “Don’t be so shy, before I left to train you told me you wanted to talk about something. You’ve finally told me and now we’re giving this a chance. If I hadn’t known you my whole life I wouldn’t have come out to you and given you courage to ask me out.” he whispered.

Kiba sipped some of his coffee, then finally smiled. “Your right.” He remembered that when Naruto got back, one of the first things he did, after greeting everyone, was come to see him. Kiba gulped down the rest of his coffee, forgetting it was hot.

Kiba choked on the burn in his throat and Naruto got up and handed him the glass of milk he’d been drinking. Kiba downed it. “Ow.” he rubbed his throat, “Thanks Naruto. Its still gonna sting though.” he sighed.

Naruto dropped some Ryo on the table for the bill and tip, he pulled Kiba up from the table. “Lets go for a walk.”

Kiba nodded, eager to flee from the eyes glaring at him and Naruto.

A waitress waved a goodbye to them, adored that the two were together. Afterall, it couldn’t have been any more obvious when they’d first walked in.

-

Akamaru pounced Kiba on his way out, he was as tall as Kiba himself when he stood on his hind legs.

Kiba patted Akamaru, “Alright boy, enough!” he yelled playfully, Akamaru licked his face and jumped down.

Naruto grabbed Kiba’s hand, “Don’t worry about anyone seeing us, Kiba. If we see any teammates or friends then we’re just going to come out with it, no stalling or excuses.” He smiled, he’d made it seem rather inspirational.

Kiba sighed, “Ok.” He knew it would be easier this way, but he was nervous.

-

They’d been walking down the market district a while, holding hands and getting stares. Some people with giving stares of disapproval, others were giving stares of adore or surprise.

Kiba hesitated, hoping Naruto would decide to go right as they neared a fork leading to two different districts. If Naruto turned right, they would still be in the market district, but would end up passing Ino’s Flower Shop. The thing is, Ino was known for being just a tad bit homophobic. He’d actually witnessed her telling off one of his friends a few months ago for being gay. But if Naruto went right, they’d just be passing through a small housing district, luckily.

Naruto lead Kiba left. Kiba sighed, looking up at the clear blue sky.

Akamaru barked at someone near the Yamanaka Flower shop causing Kiba to look down. Kurenai and Asuma were buying flowers, lots of them. Kiba felt like running, he spotted Ino at the counter, thought she didn't seem to notice them.

“H-hey Kurenai-sensei, Asuma-sensei.” Kiba stuttered, putting his other hand on Akamaru’s back. He started to blush, but Kurenai and Asuma were blushing too. Asuma took his hand out of Kurenai’s and rubbed the back of his head.

“I was…just buying flowers. I lost a bet to Kurenai.” Asuma announced nervously. It was clear he was lying. Kurenai brought the flowers to her nose and took a whiff of the aroma, she was holding a lot of red and white carnations. When she brought them down she noticed the couple standing before them, rather than the two ninja standing before them. “Cute, I’m happy for you Kiba.” she said, rather plainly. Kurenai was the only person other than Hana who knew Kiba was gay, she and Hana were the only ones he trusted to know.

Asuma followed Kurenai’s gaze down to the couples hands. “Well, I can certainly say I didn’t see that coming.”

Kurenai elbowed him.

“I mean to say, I don’t mind it, I just didn’t expect it. I'm happy to I suppose.” he corrected. Kurenai smiled.

Kiba tried to smile, but he was still a bit embarrassed.

No one knew what to say, so Naruto finally said: “Kiba n’ me were on a walk, so we’re gonna get going now!” he cheered. “Oh, and…” he let go of Kiba’s hand momentarily, then walked up to Kurenai and Asuma to put their hands together. “You don’t have to hide your relationship, if me and Kiba don’t then you shouldn’t either! It’s pretty obvious anyways.” He walked back to Kiba and grasped his hand.

Asuma and Kurenai looked into each others eyes, adoringly, blushing.

Kiba couldn’t help but smile at how open and straightforward Naruto was with everything.

“See you soon, Kiba.” Kurenai said, waving goodbye to them as they walked off.

Kiba tried looking at Ino’s expression through the corner of his eye as they walked by. She wasn’t there, thank goodness.

Ino walked out of back room, laughing at a joke that could be heard from somewhere else in the house, to the counter to help some customers. She noticed the two walking, and was about yell a greeting before she noticed their hands. One word was floating through her mind: Weird. She shrugged, brushing it off.

-

Kiba let out a sigh of relief, Good…she didn’t see us. he thought.

Naruto looked at Kiba, his head was down and didn’t look very happy. “Kiba.” he called quietly.

Kiba looked up at Naruto.

“Please, just please, be yourself will you? I know your nervous and worried, but you need to think about the positive things! The sooner people know about us, the better. The sooner you act like yourself, well, the better!” said Naruto.

“I know…Your right, I’ve got to pull myself together.” Kiba replied.

“Thank you.” Naruto pulled Kiba closer to him, trying to make him think more about them rather than what others think of them.

And it worked. Even though there were eyes on them, Kiba blushed, smiled, and burst into happy laughter.

-

The two were walking aimlessly around the village at this point. Naruto had intended to take Kiba for a walk around the Konoha Gardens, but forgot. Kiba’s head lay on Naruto’s shoulder as they walked around the outskirts of town, they’d been walking a long time without taking a break, silently but perfectly aware of the others happiness. It was almost nighttime, the sky above was littered with stars on an orange canvas. It had been a cloudless day. Being on the outskirts, there weren’t many buildings, but there was a small building not far away.

“Naruto-kun” Kiba said. He’d already begun showing a lot of affection for Naruto, even though it was their first day together. “Let me buy you some ice cream.” he said. The building they were nearing was an Ice Cream stand, a small one.

Naruto smiled, “Ok.”

There were a few people at the brightly lit stand, a few couples a the tables in the grass and there was a little boy with his two shinobi parents buying him red sweet ice. He had trouble holding his cup because he had two hand puppets on.

“Why don’t you take them off sweetie?” the mother asked.

“You know he won’t, honey.” the father replied.

In a squeaky voice: “Sweet ice, sweet ice!” the boy cheered, waving one of the puppets in the air.

“Rei! Reisuke,be careful!” the mother yelled, hesitantly. The boy named Reisuke almost spilled his sweet ice.

The father laughed as the three walked carefully down the hillside into town.

Naruto sat at a picnic table in the grass, close to the hillside.

Kiba smiled at Naruto and walked to the stand.

Inside, Kiba noticed, was a staircase leading downwards. He didn’t want to be rude and ask, so he could only assume it lead underground. “Excuse me.” he said to the young girl drinking a glass of water.

“Yes?” She set the glass down.

“Me and my boyfr-” Kiba hesitated, he looked back at Naruto who was playing with Akamaru, then gathered some courage, “Me and my boyfriend would like some sweet ice please.”

“Sure thing!” she said, “Flavor?”

“Umm…Blue Raspberry for me, and…” he took a guess at Naruto’s favorite flavor, “and sweet lime for him. Oh, I'll have a vanilla ice cream cone instead of sweet ice."

“Right away.” She set a foam cup on the counter and scooped shaved ice into it. She turned to her side and took a type of squirt bottle with a green liquid in it, then dribbled a little bit into the ice. She then got out a small waffle cone and put some ice cream into it from the machine in the corner.

“D-do you think that’s enough on his sweet ice?” Kiba asked. It sure smells sweet though…

“I make the flavoring really strong so I don’t use it up as fast. Down in the village most of the places that serve sweet ice run out of flavoring often.”

Kiba shrugged, “How much do I owe you?”

The girl, who Kiba now noticed looked a lot like Ayame from back at Ichiraku, figured the numbers on a calculator, Kiba also noticed she didn’t have a cash register, and showed it to Kiba who in turn nodded and gave her the Ryo.

“Do you know Ayame by any chance?” Kiba asked.

“Huh? No I, I don’t think I know an- Oh, wait! Yes, how could I forget!” she seemed rather empty headed, “Ayame is my cousin, we hardly see each other though. My name is Yuki, by the way.”

“Ok. Thanks then, Yuki.” Kiba grabbed both of the cold treats and walked over to Naruto.

-

The two finished their ice cream well after the lights in the stand went out. She warned them that it was almost midnight and they should probably get home. They’d decided to stay so she left a lantern on and told them to turn it off when they left.

Naruto put a hand to his head, “I hate brain freeze…how’d you know sweet lemon was my favorite flavor of sweet ice?”

Kiba shrugged, “I guessed.” he smiled. “I’m glad you liked it.”

Naruto got up, took the foam cups to the recycling bin and dropped them in. Walking back: “Let’s go Kiba, its passed midnight already…” He yawned.

Kiba nodded in response and lay his head on Naruto’s shoulder like before, only he closed his eyes and allowed Naruto to guide him. “Do you think... you could walk…m…me and…Aka..zz- maru…” he fell asleep.

Naruto wanted to smile, but was too tired to do even that. He tried his best to carry Kiba. Sighing, he started walking towards his house. There would be no way he’d make it to Kiba’s home, which was on the other side of Konoha in the Inuzuka District, without falling asleep himself. They weren’t far from his apartment anyways.

-

Akamaru whined, tired. Naruto carefully set Kiba down against the railing and took the key from under the mat then unlocked the door. He picked Kiba up again, careful not wake him up. Not bothering to turn on the lights, he went straight for his room and set Kiba down on his bed, pulling the blanket over him slowly.

Naruto put his knee on the bed, about to get in. Sleep… he thought, Or…I don’t know if I should on our first day together…he sighed and went into the front room with an extra blanket for himself, then let himself fall to sleep on the couch.
