This Time Next Week I Shall Be Elsewhere

On Sunday I am making a break for Hadrian's Wall and going to London for the week. First to stay with nodbear before wading through a possibly tube strike stricken London to stay with vampirefever.

My cautious optimism that work was about to turn a corner was unfounded. It continues to be utterly tedious and they still seem to be under the impression I'm a 14 year old on work experience incapable of doing much more than stuffing envelopes. In more positive news I am continuing to attend my ballet class and it continues to be awesomely like a British sitcom version of Fame.

Glasgow cultural landmark A Play, A Pie and A Pint is now running in Edinburgh and I toddled along on Saturday afternoon to attend. I had a macaroni pie. It was possibly the eighth wonder of the world. With tomato sauce. The play itself, Skeleton Wumman, was about the visibility and experience of disabled people in the context of a modern Scottish fairy tale. I thought it was very well done, original and very moving.

On Sunday I was at the cinema to see Swedish indie We Are the Best! about three thirteen year old girls forming a punk band in 1982 Stockholm. It was hugely enjoyable and made me want to be cut off my hair and join a punk band!

In more mainstream film review news I watched Rush last night. I have no interest in Formula 1 and found those sequences rather dull but Daniel Bruhl puts in such a cracking performance as Ladua it's still worth watching for those not fans of the sport. Chris Hemsworth is also very good and managed to make the potentially sleazy Hunt charming and sympathetic but much like with Thor I fear he's been somewhat overlooked for the actor with the more conventionally showy part.

real life, review
