I had a quiet and civilized Easter Weekend. The only event of note was a trip to the cinema to see The Amazing Spiderman 2. Much like the first installment it has it's flaws but what makes it rise above mediocrity is the excellent turns put in by Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone. Jamie Foxx also did a sympathetic job as one of the villains but I think I prefer James Franco's Harry Osbourne to Dane DeHaan.

As a quick DVD round up I have recently seen Wolverine (dull when Rila Fukishama's Yuriko wasn't on screen), I'm So Excited (A bit too Carry on Almodovar), Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa (enjoyed more than I thought I would with some cracking one liners in it) and The World's End (was okay until the robots).

Last night I was at Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake with one of the cousins. At the interval she turned to me and said in confusion, "When does the female swan turn up?". The old dear sitting beside her saved me the bother of explaining by turning to her and saying, "This one is something of a Gayfest."

I've yet to buy season 3 and given the events of the last episode of season 4 I don't think I'll be bothering. I'm not particularly keen to be part of the rolling bandwagon that is the increasing acceptability of rape culture where even though a woman is saying no through out and trying to push him off it's still not rape and even if it is she's a bitch anyway. It's not the scene itself that bothers me so much as the trying to wriggle out of the implications by the show runner.
