I just love it when people
mention animals in LGBT-rights discussions*. It's amazing how often people drag this out as an argument against same-sex relationships and especially gender neutral marriage (like marriage = children, or something! Not to mention the many, wonderful possibilities we humans have for artificial insemination, which is also used by a rather high procent of differenting-sex couples). I know it's not common knowledge - as some of you may remember I was in chock when I found about the diversity regarding animals' sexual behavior for some time ago. HOMOSEXUAL NECROPHILIA RAPE, GUYS, I'LL NEVER FORGET THAT -, but when you use it against some people's rights, then I would say it would be a good idea to actually, you know, know wtf you're talking about.
There are loads of examples of intersexed and transgender animals, homosexual couples has been observed in over 1.500 species - and some even raise baby animals! -, every single form of couple-creation you can imagine exist in the animal world. Not to mention there is sexual necrophilia among f.ex. some spiders, there are examples of groups of male dolphins killing the offspring of a female dolphin so they can have group sex with her, a young seal has been observed forcing a penguin to sex, and there is of course the infamous example of HOMOSEXUAL NECROPHILIA RAPE, which I'll never get over. Basically two male ducks where "participating" in what is called flight rape - something quite common among ducks -, when one of the ducks died - I think he hit a window -, and then the other one... had his (the living one) way with him (the dead one).
No, I really don't think we humans should mold our relationships and laws regarding after animals' gender/sex, sexual behavior, or relationships. It's... no, I really don't think it's such a good idea.
*translation:
Birthe Rønn Hornbech: "The living world consists, with the exception of the killer snail and some few other species, of he and she, and that's why this world still have the opportunity to exist (said at a hearing about homosexuals' right to marriage or not). Try reading that quote a couple of times more.
Basically she compared queer people with killer snails. Lots of people are upset about this comment, but personally I just can't help but laugh at the ignorance. Hornbech was Once Upon a Time a really sharp and intelligent politician, but then she became a minister for the previous government and underwent brain washing or something and failed hardcore, broke the law, etc and since then she has been a outdated, old relic in Danish politics. Uffe Elbæk is the current Minister for Culture. Neither of them have wanted to comment on her comment or him sharing her comment on FB. AH, POLITIC DRAMA, IT REALLY IS THE BEST.
