Here's the route. Stopped up at the WWII memorial cemetery up near Teele Square for a moment. It could use a clean up, sorry to say. Still a nice little place.
Decided to roll back down through Dorchester. It's changed so much since just last year! Lots of old stuff being knocked down for new stuff :P Dunno how I feel about it. I miss living in that area actually. Not the poverty, but the actual sense of neighborhood. The Irish pubs are almost all visibly gone, either knocked down and replaced with apartment buildings or remodled into some bland modernity. The Harp & Bard, for instance, had this beautiful hand-carved sign and all the pub patina, I painted a quick water color of it for my degree project (glad I did, in retrospect), but now it looks like a health care plan provider or some sort of free clinic. The exterior was -completely- stripped away and redone. Bleh. Other stuff. Anyway.
On the way back, I realized that I haven't been to Prospect Hill, though I pass it often enough. As it's the 4th of July, I felt it was appropriate to try the hill. Crazy steep. But a lovely little unassuming park stop at the top. Scenic. I saw a piece of graffiti that read: VALENA WUZ HERE <3 7/4/10. So must've just missed her by a couple hours or so :) The pop and snap of the old Flag is really loud and a prominent feature of the area, it's so quiet up there you can hear it throughout the park; nicely designed.
Home, tired. Was fun to see alla Bostonians out and about for the fireworks later tonight. You can see by the elevation chart where the peaks were for the hills near the end; yikes, no joke!
