SCIENCESTUFF(?) Garbage
Okay so...
NASA is looking for relevance, shuttles are being grounded, etc.
Why.. don't we.. all just gather up our garbage, nuclear waste, rubber tires and shit and schedule regular launches of the stuff into the sun?
I mean..
This just occurred to me - is there some reason not to be doing this?
It's an industry that would provide jobs, help clean the planet, do away with landfills and that sprawling island of trash in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, drive technological innovation, fund our space program, etc. etc. etc.
I mean, you just have to get the stuff near enough, set it moving on the right trajectory... and won't gravity and sun eventually take care of the rest?
