The Southeaster Science Fiction Awards were given out this past weekend at TrinocCon in Raleigh, NC. Winners were:
- Lifetime Achievement: Jack McDevitt
- Best Novel of 2005: Seeker by Jack McDevitt (Ace)
- Best Short Fiction of 2005 - "Bears Discover Smut" by Michael Bishop

The magazine Talebones was this close to locking the door and pulling the shade on the business, but it made a desperate call for subscriptions. It turns out that SF fans can be quite adamant about supporting their interests: after one week the magazine got over 100 subscriptions and over 50 single-issue orders, in short raising $4500. We at EP already know about the generosity of SF fans and how they like to support writers, and we thank you every day for it.
