Word wars at Escapade?

I posted this to my own journal but thought I should direct it to a captive audience. ;)

I'm once again part of the Get Your Words Out community of people who, for reasons that don't need to be explored at this juncture, are trying to write a shit-ton of words. At 150,000 words, my goal is described as "Modest," which is just another way of saying that HA HA HA HA MY CRAZINESS IS SHINIER THAN YOURS.

And it may well be.

At any rate - one of the community activities are word wars - people show up online at a certain time, someone says "Go!" and you then have thirty minutes to write. And while just showing up and writing means you're a winner, you're the winningest winner if you wrote more words than everyone else.

Since years ago I was in a class where we had timed writing, this is Pavlovian for me. Setting my own timer, or just knowing that someone else is watching the clock, well, this is my idea of a good time.

Also, I can get so caught up in the fun of Escapade that I could easily forget to do a little writing, and there I am, falling behind and feeling smaller than 8 pt. script.

Therefore, I propose to hang up a sign at times indicating I am ready for battle. It might be out in the bar, or in the con suite, I don't know yet. (If I'm violating con suite rules, then obviously that's out)

If at this time, there is anyone who thinks this to be the heights, the best, the veritable pink of the Ton, the real Tobasco or an out-and-out zizz, I should be glad to hear from you.
